strange/slightly morbid wwyd

I went to see Titanic 3D yesterday. Now that I have DS, watching it was way more intense because I was seeing everything from a mothers perspective instead of just having the "looking out for number one" perspective. So of course I was thinking: what would I have done to try to keep DS safe if we had been on titanic? Wwyd? The scenes with the irish children and the frozen infant made my bawl. Like hard. Thoughts?

  • The horse is funny. I've always thought about what I would have done. I think I would hyave grabbed anything that would float (a door perhaps) and dressed as warm as possible and paddled off when the ship was part way under. You wouldn't stay dry but you could keep a baby dry. All the people who stayed until the last second all but gauranteed their death, you wouldn't be completely soaked if you floated away.

  • I would have tried my best to make my way on a lifeboat!! If that didn't happen I honestly don't know, tried my best to keep LO warm and dry.

This. I would be an a-hole and pushed people out of the way to get on one. Tongue Tied

  • If we didn't get into a life boat I would have done what the one mother did and rocked her to sleep and held her until the end. There is no way a baby could survive the freezing temperatures long enough to get rescued so I would choose the quickest easiest death for her (and me).

This, I remember that scene it was heart wrenching.

  • Not sure what site you use to host your pics, but I've heard that some of the sites reuse the codes after a while, so it's possible that the code that was originally assigned to your pic may have been to reassigned to a new pic (the horse!). One of the other ladies (on another board) had a pornographic image pop up in her sig one day!! Maybe try to upload again & put the new code in your sig?

  • This breaks my heart, I'm a very emotional person and that scene has killed me every time I've seen the movie. I do agree with PP about bringing the quickest most comfortable end that I could for myself and my baby (and if in the moment I was capable of a logical thought process, that is would I would do) but at the same time it's a mother's instinct to protect her child. I feel like in the situation that instinct would kick in so strong that I would fight by every means to keep my baby warm and dry and most importantly alive. All of this of course if I wasn't able to fight our way on a life boat and considering there's no way I would be able to afford a first class ticket, yeah that seems unlikely.

  • I would have done anything!!! Even if i meant throwing everyone out of the lifeboat!! I dont remember the children in the movie (thankfully) so I will not be seeing this movie again because now that I am a mommy anything to do with children make me cry! I saw the first newborn since I had DD and it almost made me cry!!

  • Momma bear would have come out and I would have fought my way to a lifeboat.  No other questions asked.
