Natural Birth

Researching Care Providers...

I'm normally quite good at google, but I'm coming up empty on this... I'd like to research midwives and whether any complaints have been filed against the ones I'm looking at. I realize each state is different, but what should I be looking for ? I tried "____ midwife malpractice" or "state of ____, malpractice suits", etc but I haven't found what I'm looking for.

I guess if you could share, where did you look for more background information on your midwife, and how did you determine that they were reputable. One of the ladies on my BMB  posted a midwife horror story from Idaho, so now I'm paranoid.

  • Check your state's Board of Nursing (or whoever is licensing your midwife).
Six years of infertility and loss, four IUIs, one IVF and one very awesome little boy born via med-free birth 10.24.13.

  • So does this mean if they are a "CPM" rather than a "CNM", they aren't licensed on the state level and you can't find a good history on them?

It depends on what state you are in. https://pushformidwives.org/cpms-by-state/

You rock! I Guess since I'm looking at a CPM in a state where it's "pending legislation" I'm SOL.. awesome. I hate living in a place that isn't friendly to natural birth !

    Happy to help!

My sister hired a traveling MW for her DD's birth, though I'm not sure about her license status in her home state (which is either Oregon or Washington).  PM me if you want her info. The MW is really, really experienced and will travel to you - and her price is comparable to home birth MWs.
