Cloth Diapering

Is this a good deal?

I'm trying to build my stash. Is this a good deal?

6 pack of Charlie bananas OS for $79.20. Shipping to me would be about $8.50.

Im a FTM, you can tell me if this isn't a good idea. Will these fit my NB (depending on his size at birth, let's assume he'll be average size).

The only other diapers I bought so far were 3 flips that were on sale from Cotton Babies last week in the 2nds sale.

ETA: Or.... Is the FuzziBunz sale on Fairytale Deals better?

  • you'll need actual newborn diapers or at least get some newborn prefolds and covers.  generally one size diapers will not fit a newborn and for most don't start fitting until closer to 12 lbs

  • Would I be better off then buying the 6 pack of CB in the small size (7-18 lbs)?

Being a FTM & new to CDs, I'm a little uncomfortable with prefolds. They seem intimidating to me.  I like the idea of flips & CBs... They seem more similar to a disposable diaper. No?

I don't think they're really similar to a disposable.  I've never used CBs, but I don't really like sized diapers or diapers with elastic adjustments.  We do like Flips, but prefer BG 4.0s and Elementals and Tots Bots Easy Fits more.  Most OS diapers won't fit newborns though.  DD started wearing OS diapers at 6 weeks.

  • I don't have a baby (yet), but I have been building my stash. I can tell you that I have some Charlie Banana's in small, and they are still quite a bit bigger than my newborn all-in-ones, so I don't think that they'd fit a newborn, either.

For what it's worth, for the newborn stage we have some Lil Joey's, a few AMP AIOs, gDiapers, and prefolds & covers. Honestly, I looked at some folding tutorials online (for prefolds), and it REALLY doesn't look complicated at all. I think that I am going to use the prefolds and gDiapers during the day, and save the Lil Joey's and AMP for nighttime changes and when Daddy does the diapers. Also, I think that you will need about 24 diapers for a newborn, so buying some prefolds seems to be a great way to cut back on costs, since AIOs and pockets are expensive!

  • I have used Fuzzi Bunz when my girls were about 6 lbs and they worked great. The diaper does work well and Fuzzi Bunz has been around for a long time and has an excellent reputation.  If your baby is going to be at least 6 - 7 lbs at birth, then that would work.  If your baby really tiny like mine were at birth, about 5lbs, then you would be better off with another option. We tried the flips as well and they were just too big until our girls were over 10 lbs.  I cannot say much about Charlie Banana since they are so new and I have not heard much feedback on them. Either way, buying a stash in advance is a smart idea because you will be ready as your little on grows.

Which diaper is a better deal? I know the Fuzzi Bunz sale at fairytaledeals.com is offering the diapers at $12.97 each with free shipping if you buy 6 items. That is $77.82 which is less money for a diaper with an excellent reputation. I would go with the Fuzzi Bunz deal.

    Hope this helps.

  • THat is a good deal, however, I started out buying all Charlie Bananas and they are great but I LOVE my BumGenius 4.0 One Size Diapers... they have the best fit!

  • We have CBs in xs and they still fit our LO at 9 weeks but she is only 10.2 pounds. Smalls are still too big!
