2+ Moms...reusing bottles?

I EBF my DD but had to pump and bottle feed breast milk for daycare.  I was planning on replacing all the nipples for those bottles but keeping the bottles.  A friend of mine just went out and bought all new bottles.  Thoughts?

Re: 2+ Moms...reusing bottles?

  • I'd be okay with reusing the bottles with new nipples.  I plan to buy new but that's because I want to try a different brand.

  • I plan on just reusing the bottles we have.  Ds ebf and it was mostly on the boob, the bottles weren't used a ton.

  • We are planning on using the same bottles. We will just replace any silicone parts. It seems wasteful to buy all new bottles.

  • I think I'm going to buy new.  I only BF'd DD for 2 months so her bottles look pretty worn out.  They are kind of cloudy and discolored.  But I plan on getting the Dr. Brown's again, loved them!
  • I'm planning on reusing.  I need to check out the condition of the bottles and nipples and  go from there.

  • I have glass bottles so I def. plan on reusing them (i bought glass because they last longer) and just replace all nipples

  • Apparently I'm clueless on this, but do you need to replace the nipples?  I ebf, so I bet we only used his bottles 10 or 20 times.  Does the silicone just need replaced periodically?

  • Yeah, the silcone/latex will break down, so should be replaced.  As far as reusing the bottles, I don't see any problem with it as long as 1.) They are still in good shape. 2.) They don't contain BPA.  I know a lot of the newer bottles don't but the ones we used for DS 7 years ago did, so I won't be using those again.

  • We will probably use the same bottles but buy a few more and buy new nipples.  We started using Tommee Tippees with DS when he was about 7 months old and we love them!  But because we bought them so late (we were using another brand before) we didn't buy a lot.  I would like to add a few more.

  • I would be reusing the bottles, but I gave them all to my sister when she got pregnant.  So we'll be buying new ones.  I know one of my friends went out and bought all new bottles as well.  I think it's just personal preference.

  • If we have another girl - we will reuse the same bottles and just replace the silicone parts.  The only bottle DD would take was the NUK bottles and they didn't really have neutral ones - we have mostly pink bottles - I think a couple green.  Assuming LO2 will drink from that type of bottle, we will reuse them.  If we have a boy I would probably get a couple blue ones to send to daycare for him.

  • Reusing the Ventaire ones but buying new silicone pieces. Also going to buy a few new ones. Threw out the Dr. Browns they were great in the beginning, then started leaking.

  • We have glass bottles, so we just replaced the nipples for #2 and will do the same with this baby.
