Success after IF

Pump parts ?

So remind me again what pump parts I should get new in between kids for the best function.  (I have a Medela PISA) I need to start making a list of all the things I need to get for this baby since it is getting so close.  Thanks ladies!

Re: Pump parts ?

  • New membranes (the little white flaps) and new tubing. That's all I get each time.

  • Definitely new tubing...that stuff breaks down and you can't get it at the store, like membranes and such...order it beforehand or you will end up like me, searching under the bed for the stupid little plastic nobby thing that has come loose from the tubing as your boobs are ready to explode.

  • if you use the soft, flexible parts that go on the nipple (what are they called? nipple shields or something?) you should get a few pairs since they warp--but i don't think that's an issue if you use the normal hard ones.

  • I'd replace everything but the pump itself. Tubes, flanges, membranes, all of it. I know I received a full set of Medela parts from the hospital when I was there after my c-section.
TTC#1 since Mar 2008. Serious MFI due to cancer. 3 cancelled IUI's, just about every test in the book. IVF#1 - BFP! Twin girls arrived 2/5/10 at 35w2d. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Just the membranes...milk doesn't reach the tubing, so it is really not necessary to replace it.  Everything else is fine.

    I agree with this.

  • I got new membranes and tubing this time. I figure the tubing wasn't really necessary, but some moisture did always get in there last time, so it was creeping me out enough to replace the tubing. It was like $20 all told to replace the parts.
After 7 failed IUIs, IVF w/ ICSI worked!!

I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.

And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!
