Maternity clothes are really bumming me out. Anyone else?

I think it is partly because I am just in that thick-thru-the-middle phase but the thought of wearing mat clothes for the next 6 monthes is seriously depressing me right now. Boo hoo. Anyone with me?!

  • I'm sorta there with you. I hate that unless the clothes are fitted to me body I just look frumpy and fat. And that the only mat jean I can find are full panel ones that don't quite work for this stage.

This exactly. Maternity pants fit really weird right now. I am still using the rubber band trick and using a bella band with my normal pants.

  • I'm finding it hard to find work appropriate pants.  The ones I have from last te I hate and I have to usually wear suits, but I can get away with jackets and nice pants while PG.  I just can't find any that are nice enough, that aren't over $100

  • I am doing dresses and skirts a lot. I really only have one pair of maternitypants that I feel fits me well at this point. I am in the ackward, feeling thick stage as well.

  • I'm with you! Everytime I go to buy maternity stuff, i get a little depressed. I think it's partially because my summer clothes are my fave and I am a little bummed out by how not cute the maternity stuff I'm finding is.

  • I too am in a quandry about materinity clothes.  I have really thick thighs and all the pants are uncomfortably too tight through the legs.  Then the regular lengths are way too long and the petits are like floods.  I have yet to find a pair of shorts that are of average lengh and not fitting like daisy dukes on me.  My other issue si materinity tops.  My belly isn't yet big enough for them yet but regular shirts aren't quite long enough yet.  I have to dress professional each day and I look terrible and unkept.  I hope I grow some soon so I can buy clothes that actually do fit.

  • I'm really petite so maternity clothes are awful.  I actually just stuck to longer tops with empire waists and skirts/dresses/leggings until I got to 6 or 7 months last time.  I then broke down and bought some maternity tops.

Maternity pants are a joke if you're really short.  The waist line comes up way too high on my bump and is uncomfortable or I have to wear the pants 4" lower than my crotch.

  • I have a love/hate relationship with them. I'm having trouble with t-shirts and those sorts of tops. If I wear my normal ones, I look fat and gross. The maternity ones don't look right, so I wear my husband's and they look baggy and frumpy.

I LOVE my maternity jeans from the GAP. I got some hot-pink ones with the demi panel (using a 40% coupon), and they fit and look fantastic. I also have some decent demi panel ones from old Navy that look ok.

I'm also in love with maxi dresses... I have some maternity and some non-maternity, but they all fit the same. So comfy!

  • I'm okay in pants, but the tops are still too big and look funny.  My regular tops just make me look chubby and not pg.  Or they aren't long enough because with bigger boobs and rounder belly they ride up.  I can't wait for a few more weeks when maternity clothes look okay.

Same for me too. Rubber band trick and bellaband are my friends right now. Also why are maternity jeans so unflattering in the butt?!:(

  • I think I look like a pudgy alcoholic (read: beer belly, nothing else). When I wear maternity clothes I look more pregnant in some because they are made such that there is extra fabric in the middle, etc.

I don't love my maternity clothing because I normally get higher quality, cuter normal clothes since I plan on using them forever. I actually think the warmer months will be a welcome change as then I can get away with wearing more summery dresses + cardigans at work (I work in a pretty formal environment).

  • I have bought some maternity clothes but haven't wore any of them yet because I just look fat when I put them on.  I am starting to run out of ideas for work though..  So far I have been wearing leggings or stretchy black pants or gaucho capris.  I need to figure out something else soon or until the maternity clothes look normal on me.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to check it out.

  • I am so frustrated by clothing right now.  I'm not big enough for maternity clothes (except pants), but am struggling to look 1/2 way decent in my non-maternity clothes.  It doesn't help that my maternity clothing I bought is all for summer and the weather has been crappy.  Maybe that's a good thing though because if I wore my maternity clothes now, I'd look like I was wearing a tent.

I 2nd this! I just got a pair of long and lean demi panel jeans from there. While the price was difficult to swallow, they are heaven to wear.  So wish I had known about the demi panel last time.  Much more comfortable.

I also fold down the panel on full panel pants which works, but I still have to pull them up frequently.

  • is it bad that i don't care what I look like on the weekends...I only want comfort....sadly my suits have gotten really tight around the middle...thanks gosh the summer is coming I can wear more dresses...I think part of the issue is I have not told work and trying to not look pregnant.......

stupid me...most of my suit pants have side zips...

It  is freaking challenging finding suitable inexpensive work stuff...

  • Maternity shirts are too saggy for me right now.  I wear one pair of capris and they are too big, but the rest of my pants are too small and I can't go out in yoga pants (I work from home, so don't have to go out that often).

I am loving a lot of what Target has online for maternity and have bought some from Old Navy.  I plan to wear a lot of dresses this summer since the pants aren't really that great, though.

  • Ladies, dresses with vertical pleats all the way down are your friends.  I went to a regular store and bought two that come with belts and while I am not-super-pregnant-looking I will wear them with the belt tied in an empire-style and then as I get bigger will lose the belt entirely.  When I get back to pre-pregnancy size (haha) then I can wear them with the belt at my natural waist.  I spent a little more than I would spend on maternity clothes but love that I can keep wearing them afterward and they are wedding and work appropriate.

  • I have been wearing maternity pants for a couple of weeks already.  I had kind of a big belly and no hips before I got pregnant.  I tried the rubber band trick with the belly band and I felt like I was flashing my underwear at everyone all day.

I have one pair from Target, which a still slightly big in the panel and I have to wear the belly band over them.  The other pair is from Motherhood and I really like the panel on those ones.

I can still wear my regular shirts, so I haven't purchased any maternity shirts yet.

  • I got clothes from Maternity Motherhood. They had really cute jeans and tops. There have really good sales so it was inexpensive.
  • I'm also bummed by maternity clothes.  My belly popped early this time around, I look 20-24 weeks pregnant already and things are much different than last time.  Last time I loved the no or small panel maternity clothes but now I look really gross, I guess my stomach is much flabbier this time, plus they dig into my stomach which is super uncomfortable.

I have 4-5 pairs of bottoms I just can't wear this time... and broke down and ordered a pair of full panel jean capris and a denim skirt from Old Navy.  I just am irritated I have to buy more clothes when I already have the stuff from last time.
