3rd Trimester

Ok I have a really stupid question

I know that some spotting/bleeding is normal after an internal so that's not the question. They told me at L&D that if my headache comes back and doesn't go away with tylenol, if my vision gets blurry and i see spots, contractions, water breaking, or bleeding that I need to go back. So...if bleeding is normal after an internal should I call them just in case? They knew I'd had an internal today so I'm guessing they didn't mean that, but I have no idea anymore. Yes, I know this is stupid, but I'm tired and feeling very confused. Flame away if you must.

Re: Ok I have a really stupid question

  • Are you just spotting a little or really bleeding?

  • It wouldn't hurt to call, maybe they'll give a guideline on what type of bleeding warrants a trip to L&D.
  • Calling never hurt anyone-if you're concerned I'd call.
  • I was in L&D right after an internal yesterday and they said anything more than spotting for 24-36 hours would be grounds to call.

  • You know, I didn't have the morning from hell you had and I'm a little confused by this too.

  • Oh, and I had my first internal today and my OB said to go to the hospital right away if I have "period bleeding" (becusae that would be unrelated to the internal).
  • Surely no one will flame you for being concerned!

I would call just to be on the safe side. They will probably tell you its normal, but a phone call won't hurt, right?

  • ohh cajun I am so with you. I was sent to L&D and they told me even if my leg starts hurting to come back in. They just confused me even more. Now I feel like I am going to eith go in a thousand times or have this baby at home bc I won't no the diff. b/w a leg cramp and a Labor leg cramp
  • Definitely not a stupid question. If you're concerned I would call. You mentioned you had a cath in earlier too? I know the last time I had one in, that also caused me to spot a little bit. GL!
  • It's not that I'm concerned (I am), but it's more like it kinda seems like conflicting info lol. I'm just going to call and find out. I'm sure they meant heavy bleeding that doesn't stop, but I'm still gonna find out.
