I bought the Hypnobabies CDs and have been doing the workbook at home (no classes in the area)....and I'm having some trouble. I'm only 30 weeks pregnant (started early), but I'm so uncomfortable sitting still for long periods that I get really angry and can't relax during the hypnosis. It feels like restless leg syndrome. ... but I don't really have the symptoms at other times. I really don't understand, I am not an angry person and earlier in the program I just kept falling asleep (almost the oppostite problem). I would really like this to work and I'm afraid that if I can't do this then I won't be able to do a natural child birth. : (
Does anybody have a similar experience? I still have no trouble going to sleep at night so I'm betting this is all in my head. I just don't know how to fix it. Any advice?
Thanks!

Re: Hypnobabies help?
Try just practicing the breathing, without listening to the CDs. Take some time and focus on relaxing and tell yourself that's all you're going to do right then, is relax.
When I first started listening, I had a hard time too, in part because it annoyed me (the woman's voice was a bit too "new agey" for me) and I wasn't in a comfortable position. I waited a couple of weeks and it was a bit better. I also started listening to them right after naptime (or sometimes just before). I was relaxed, rested and comfortable in my bed. Make sure you have a comfortable place to lay. Sometimes it helps to be just a little tired out because it's more impetus to lay still. If you end up dozing sometimes that's okay.
Another thing that helped was trying to practice the techniques without the CDs. Listen to them, read the book, then practice on your own time. After you feel you're able to relax more, try listening to them again.
If it still bothers you, you may want to consider a different method, like Bradley.
My advice...lower your expectations.
You are certainly not starting too early. I have listened to the cd's over and over and I swear everytime I still hear something new. I think it is just cuz I space out at different times everytime I listen. I fell asleep every time in the beginning too. I used to lay down but now I find it easier to be comfy and more alert in a recliner.
Don't expect your body or your mind to feel a certain way. I used to get upset and think I wasn't hypnotized so it wasn't working. You just have to listen daily and do what you can to push other thoughts out of your head and focus on every word she says. I have a hard time doing this occasionally cuz I am picturing the birth and that is ok.
I get very uncomfortable at times. Simply use those times to practice your center switch. When i have an itch or want to move I move my switch to the center position, adjust, then move the switch to the off position. It is actually a good thing to practice. Just imagine when you are in your birthing time, you won't be able to lay perfectly still. It would seem like torture.
I would say just keep trying. You can still have your NB no matter how you feel about Hypnobabies. Keep practicing the finger-drop. Also, listen to your CD's in many different positions. I have recently listened while laying on my belly over a mountain of pillows on my bed. I tried sitting on my birth ball while leaning over the edge of the couch. I found it really hard to get super relaxed but thats why i need to do it again. I listened while in the bath tub but I kept getting cold.
Best of luck to you : )
