Trouble TTC

Cost of trigger shot

I picked up my meds yesterday and while I wasn't surprised by the Clomid or Provera, I was pretty shocked that the Ovidrel alone was $111. I thought the RE had mentioned a much lower cost. I guess I should have called around, I just didn't think about it. So if you've done a trigger, how much did yours cost? And where did you get it from?

Re: Cost of trigger shot

  • I went to CVS and it was $25.  Then, I went to Walgreen and they were going to charge $150+, so I think calling around defininately helps!

  • My Ovidrel was $89. My Femara was only $10 and was suprised by how much the Ovidrel was. I called my insurance provider and they said that $100 was the cost for any specialty medicine (which Ovidrel is, according to them). Turns out, the pharmacy only charged $89, so the pharmacist only charged us her rate. I was surprised by tcost though.

  • $79.50- but I used Pregnyl and Novarel for previous IUIs for the trigger- not Ovidrel.  I have asked for Ovidrel but my RE seems to have a preference for the other two.  I used Braun- a fertility pharmacy here in Chicago.

In googling costs for Ovidrel, Freedom seemed the cheapest ($75), but it needs to be part of a larger order- or else they charge a $30 surcharge.

I am using Prescription Solutions (mail order) as well. It is $45.00 for me through there. My insurance also considers it "specialty."

Maybe try calling your insurance to see if you also have coverage under a mail order service? It only takes 2 days to get here from the day I order it.
