?s re: Flying with Babies at Christmas

Hello All!

I have quesitons!

We're flying to WI this Christmas and will be taking the infant car seats with us.  What do you do with the car seats when you fly?  Do you check them?  If so, what happens if the airline loses them and get to your destination with no car seats?

Also, do they count an umbrella stroller as a carry on?  I assume we'd check it before boarding the plane but I'm not sure if they count that as a carry on or not.  We're going to have so much **** with us!  I have to lug the pump, laptop, etc.  AGH, I'm a little stressed about it.  : )

Any adivce you have is appreciated.

  • We've flown four times with the girls, each time we had the infant seats and the duoglider.  We gate checked the duoglider, and twice they had empty seats next to us, so we brought the seats on board, and twice we gate checked the car seats.  We got the seats back with no problems. I would definetly bring a stroller that the seats can snap into, much easier than a seperate stroller and car seats.

  • We're about to leave for our first flight w/ the boys today so I'll have more answers after Thanksgiving.  I have been told that our stroller can be gate checked.
  • Hi

I can't believe it, but my kids have been on 7 flights already this year!

You can gate check the seats and stroller.  Whenever we took the infant seats, we took the dsng.  My mom bought an umbrella stroller to use when we got there.

The last time I flew (last week), I put the pump and laptop bag into a medium sized carry on bag.  Also, I always use a backpack instead of an over the shoulder diaper bag.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    HTH---have a great trip!

  • We're going on our first flight next weekend (brother's wedding, ack!) and we're planning on gate checking our dsng and our carseats.  We're going to hold them on the plane since they're way happier being held than being in the carseats anyways.

Anyone know if you can wear them through security in something like a bjorn or do you need to take them out?
