TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Yey for breaking records?

Well I'm out this month...I went for my baseline and I have my biggest cyst yet at 4.5cm...so that's what I was feeling.  So I am on bcp for 3 weeks so no January baby for me.  But I decided to make this month fairly productive since it has been a year since my lap surgery and I havent had an HSG yet I will get one of my very own on Thursday.  Any advice/horror stories?

  • Boo for cysts!!  HSG isn't too bad at all unless you have blockage (or so I hear, mine was clear).  Make sure you take the 800mg of Advil before hand (they will instruct you).  For me, I had a few strong cramps, but nothing too bad.  I had a friend come with and hold my hand.  That was back in my newbie IF days so it was quite nice.  Good luck!!

  • Stupid cysts! Sorry sweetie. My HSG was easy. I had cramps while they wwere doing it, but that was only a couple of minutes. Afterwards I had no cramping or spotting. Like PP said, I have heard that it can be painful if you have a blockage (FX that you don't). Hoping and praying we both join PGAL for our February babies!
    3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13

  • Sorry about the cyst- that stinks!

I've had two HSGs in the last year.  The first was with my OBGYN and they suspected a partial blockage because of the dye moving slowly into my right tube.  It hurt terribly and I was cramping for two days.  Right before the procedure, the nurses told my OBGYN that they only had their catheters and none of hers.  I wonder if maybe radiology's caths were bigger and that's why it hurt so bad?

The second was two weeks after my lap and done by my RE.  I had minor cramping during the procedure and felt fine immediately following.

  • I'm sorry about the cyst. That sucks. Sad

I don't have any advice on the HSG. I had one but my RE did it while I was still under anesthesia during my lap.
