I have been a lurker on here for a few weeks so I thought that it was about time that I introduce myself to all of you wonderful ladies. My husband and I got pregnant shortly after we got married and that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage between week 12 and 13. After my D&C surgery my body wasn't ovulating at all. My doctor started me on clomid and progesterone to help me get pregnant again. I got pregnant on the first round of clomid! Six weeks into the pregnancy I started bleeding. I freaked out thinking I was having another miscarriage. The doctor had me go in for an ultrasound and they saw a gestational sac but no baby. They also saw a large subchorionic hemorrhage. The doctor told me to take it easy and come back at 11 weeks to have another ultrasound. We went back at 11 weeks to find a beautiful baby with a healthy heart beat. The SCH was getting smaller which was great news! At my next appointment the doctor tried for 15 minutes to find a heart beat with the doppler but didn't have any luck. I was sobbing as most women would be. I had to wait 45 minutes for the ultrasound tech to get back from lunch so that they could try to find a heart beat. The tech came in and found it right away thank God but they noticed that I had placenta previa and that my baby was measuring a week behind. The doctor said not to get worried, that it could be a measuring error and that they'd measure again at 20 weeks. At my 20 week appointment they noticed that he was measuring 2.5 weeks behind and that my placenta hadn't moved. The doctor said i'd need a c-section and that i'd have to have two non stress tests a week along with weekly ultrasounds to measure his size. Chance was still growing and the doctor kept telling me that the non stress tests looked good but I always questioned why it was showing contractions on the monitor. I was told that it was normal and they they werent strong or consistant so we had nothing to worry about. Two days later I woke up in the middle of the night to pee. It felt like I was peeing for an eternity but I didn't think anything of it bc I drank a bunch of water before bed. I went to lay back down and felt a huge gush. I walked back to the bathroom and noticed I had blood everywhere. I was bleeding really bad and I was only 31 weeks pregnant. My husband was running around like a crazy person and I was calm bc I was still half asleep. We got in the car and headed to the hospital and I called my doctor on the way who told me to pull over bc he was sending an ambulance. I told him that we were about to pull into the hospital (I live 2 miles away thank God!!) I honestly thought i'd get there and they'd put me on bed rest but boy was I wrong. They rushed me to my room (literally the transporter was running with me in a wheel chair) and there were nurses pulling my clothes off and getting me on the bed. There was a nurse trying to get an IV in each of my arms and another nurse holding a bed pan under me that I filled 3 times with God knows what, i'm sure blood and water. The doctor came in and said that we had to get him out now bc my placenta was detaching. I was in such shock and all I could think of was my ultrasound that I had a week prior. They said he was only 2lb 9oz at my ultrasound. Within 15 minutes of being at the hospital Chance was born. He weighed 3lbs 2oz and wasn't breathing. They had numerous failed intubations but they were finally successful. After two epinephrine injections, he started to cry. Those couple minutes felt like an eternity. I've never been so scared. They shipped Chance to a childrens hospital while I stayed at the hospital where I delivered.
It has been such a long road for us as i'm sure all of you know. I am so in love with my little guy and feel so blessed that I lived so close to the hospital. The doctor said had I not woke up to pee that we would have lost him. God was watching over us that's for sure. I'm so excited to meet you all and learn about your stories. It's so great to have a place to go where I can ask questions and get advice.
