MUST have baby items?

Hi ladies!

DH and I are going to register soon and we really only want to register for some of the basics and "must haves" for baby.  There are SOOOOO many items and brands it is so hard to figure out what is really worth it.  Are there any items or brands of items that you would strongly recommend and/or discourage?  Also, is there a good website or book out there that is a good resource for finding out this information?

Thank you!!

Re: MUST have baby items?

  • Someone suggested the book "Baby Bargains" to me when I asked this same question.  It is AWESOME!!! It gives recs on brands based on $$ and necessity.

  • Buy the book "baby bargains" it is the best $17 I've spent!

They also have a website but they don't have all the info there.

  • The book "Baby Bargains" is a life saver when navigating the aisles of Babies R Us to register.  I suggest getting the book and making your list from there.  I use my copy constantly to select items.

  • BRU gave me a cool checklist with the must haves in each category. It was really helpful. I asked a bunch of my friends who have kids what they could NOT live without. I keep hearing a good bouncer/rocker was really key! I put 3 on my list. Ha!
  • Ditto Baby Bargains!  Yes
  • Clothes, diapers, baby.  They are must haves.

    Gerber clothes=very small.  Stay away.

  • Crib, diapers and wipes.  Oh Mylicon.

DD hated the bouncy,  cousin hated the swing, pnp was only necissary for traveling - honestly each baby has their likes and dislikes.  You will wast a LOT of money figuring it out.
