I'm planning to cloth diaper my newborn when he comes in a few weeks, and have the often recommended stash of ks0's and prefolds with covers. I cloth diapered DD starting at 4 weeks, but never used prefolds. I decided to try a couple prefolds out on her (she's 16 months now). They functioned just fine, but after washing them I line dried them and they are so hard and starchy feeling! I can't imagine putting them back on her when they're like that, much less my newborn. How can I get them to be softer after line drying? We live in a different country and our dryer is terrible, so I would really prefer not to have to use it...but will if that's the only option (and it might be, since it will be rainy season when he's born!).

My family is a Foreign Service family. Families like mine are posted in every corner of the globe. We live our lives away from family, friends and the conviences and comforts of home. We often live and work in dangerous places among those that misunderstand our intentions and purposes. Sometimes members of our ranks sacrifice our lives to further diplomacy. Please remember that we serve too. And I'm always open to questions.
Thanks for the advice! That's a great idea.

Good luck with your move!
I would line dry and swing around in the air. Entertaining and softened them up.
This!
Ha ha! I know what you mean. I'm in Japan as well, so we also have a useless dryer.
