For those of you/husbands who read the books Husband Coached Childbirth and The Birth Partner, which one would you recommend most. I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to get DH to read both.
My DH and I read both - I would highly recommend The Birth Partner. It has a ton of info and it is a good reference (hospital bag list, signs of labor, etc.) - I loved it! Husband Coached Childbirth has some good information, but it is out of date IMO. Worth reading if you are following the Bradley Method specifically.
If he's going to only read one, it should definitely be The Birth Partner.
Ha, I haven't even read the Birth Partner and I already recommend it over Husband Coached Childbirth. I read HCC...it does have good info but it is "out of date" as pp says from a social perspective. The chauvinistic tone and perspective really rubbed me the wrong way.

I just ordered The Birth Partner this week, can't wait to read it (and have dh read it!) I think he is starting to feel like he needs to prepare. Hopefully our ridiculous number of childbirth classes will help too (one is an all day NB class too)
I read both, expecting to have DH read HCC, and said forget it less than half-way through. I loved The Birth Partner, and DH didn't fuss about reading. Also, TBP has "shaded" quick reference pages in case you need to refer to it "in the moment" or in case your DH isn't interested in reading all of it.
Our midwife recommended The Birth Partner and DH just started it. He's enjoying it and finding it helpful so far. From the tiny bit I saw, it looks clear, informative, and easily read. The index is clear and detailed, too.
