Its time again for our weekly check-in. This check-in is for anyone dealing with clotting disorders, or for anyone doing once or twice daily shots of Lovenox, Heparin, Clexane, Fragmin, Arixtra, etc. (you are also welcome if you are on any other blood thinners - coumadin, aspirin, etc.) This is a place for us to share our frustrations, worries and triumphs. What?s new this week? How is everyone feeling? How are your bruises? Here is a link to our injection tips, https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/63478735.aspx

If this is your first week checking-in, please let us know your EDD and the reason you are on blood thinners. (If you have checked in before but have not been added, it is likely because you didn?t give your EDD or the reason you are on blood thinners.)
QOTW: How/why did you find out about your clotting disorder?
Re: **Weekly Lovenox Ladies Check-in**
I feel like I am covered in bruises right now.
I found out I would need to be on Lovenox because I had 2 major strokes when I was 22. They couldn't find a 100% cause of it. I do have a flap between my atria of my heart that didn't close all the way when I was born that is causing turbulent flow and that is their best guess about why it happened.
Things here are going prety good. Had an appt this morning and baby boy had a good heartbeat of 147bpm and growing strong and healthy. Can not wait until my midway u/s to check all the body parts to make sure things are growing really good and take some worry away from me.
We found out I had APS after our second stillbirth. It has been a very hard journey so far but keep praying plenty of times a day and trying to stay peaceful about things. Prayers would be great, I keep praying for you guys to!
Everything is going well here, I'm getting excited that I'm nearing the end. I started NST testing this past week with no problems so far.
I found out about my clotting disorder after a PE and DVT while on birth control. When they found out I was homozygous for Factor V Leiden, I was put on lovenox then coumadin until the clots resolved. It sure felt like forever. I count myself fortunate though for not having to find out due to a loss. I was also able to share the information to my entire family so that all of the females could get tested in the hopes of saving them from the heart ache of finding out due to recurrent losses. My sister is heterozygous for Factor V and hetero for MTHFR and found out because of my warning. She was put on thinners at the begining of her first pregnancy and thankfully was able to carry to term. T&P for all of you who have experienced loss, I'm praying for success for everyone!

Hello Ladies,
Please update my duedate to Sept 17:) Im doing good, bruising isn't too bad, but it's there. We've had all good news at our weekly scans and were told last week we get to aim for a 'natural' vag birth after 37 weeks bringing us to Aug 27. But it's better than a planned C at 37wks. We have our anatomy scan on Monday so Im excited for my DH to see our LO( he only saw the heartbeat confirmation)! We don't get to find out the gender yet because in my province they are concerned about gender selection!
QOTW: I kept losing pregnancies at the same time (between 5-8 weeks), a hematologist finally caught what was happening and my RE wrote me a script for heparin for as soon as we got a +hpt. So far so good!
My midwife ordered blood tests to check for clotting disorders because both of my grandmothers have had clots for years, and my sister got a DVT at 27 - the same age I am now. Two days after the blood tests were ordered (but before we had results), I had pain in my left calf which wouldn't go away and felt like what my sister described with her DVT. Went to the ER and, sure enough, I had a DVT in the back of my knee. I was in the hospital for 4 days, first on a Heparin IV drip to dissolve the clot quickly, then started Lovenox injections on day 2.
My midwife called the day after I was released from the hospital to refer me to a perinatologist because my blood tests came back with 2 abnormalities - I chuckled and told her "funny story about that..."
Hi Ladies,
I'm feeling a little insecure right now about going into labor with Clexane still in my system; if any of you can offer your insights on my post, I'd appreciate it:
@ Anyone on Lovenox, Clexane, Fragmin, etc./Question about shot and labor
I'm getting pretty frustrated with this high-risk pregnancy (I also have GD), and I feel like there are too many doctors poking and prodding me ... and they all have different opinions about everything.
I found out I have FVL after testing following two early miscarriages.
*update I also found out at my last hematologist appointment that I have one of the MTHFR gene mutations in addition to the APS.
The hematologist upped my lovenox dose from 40mg daily to 60mg daily. I'm bruising a lot more now.
I found out about the APS after my third pregnancy loss via testing with an RE.
I asked a similar question earlier, and so far I think I'm the only homozygous FVL member on this board.

Hey Ladies,
This is my first time posting here. Hope you'll have me
We are expecting our first, a girl, on 9/15.
I was recently diagnosed with FVL, and I found out I may have it because my mother was also recently diagnosed with it. She told her doctor that I was pregnant and he suggested I get tested and sent some paperwork my way. Turns out, I am positive for it. When they told me the diagnosis they said I will have to be on Lovenox for 6 weeks post pardum but they were not going to start me on anything at this time. I have no history of loss, clotting, or anything else related to FVL. My mom did not clot until she was in her late 40's. Crossing my fingers that it either never affects me or it holds off like it did for my mom. I just found out about it on Monday and was trying to stay positive that the test results would come back negative so I haven't really done a whole lot of research or asked a whole lot of questions about it. Any suggestions you have are greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I'm new to this board. I was diagnosed with a pulminary embolism last week, I am still in the hospital and hoping to go home today. I am on 2 injections of lovenox a day. My due date is August 6th. Looking forward to getting some advice and support on this board!
