Ive been a lurker for a while, figured I might as well say hello!!! My name is Traci and I have a big blended family. My DH and I have been married for 3 1/2 years. We have 4 kiddos between us, 1 being together. Back history...
My exh and I were married 7 yrs, together 11, and had DD1, she is 8 now. (Jessi) That was a rough marriage, filled with daily verbal abuse and 1 episode of physical abuse. Luckily I got the courage to get out of that.. It took a while, but I did it.. It took a long time to get my self esteem back up. During this time, though, my mom was diagnoed with Alzheimers at the age of 56.
DH was married for 14 years, had 2 kids, SS, 15, Waylon, and SD, Makayla, 14.
DH and I actually went to high school together, he was 2 years behind me, we met up a few agos, when he was working security at a bar and started dating and got married a few months later. And believe it or not.. All of us and all of the ex's actually get along pretty good, most of the time.. it took a while.. and alot of work.. but most of the time, we do..
I mentioned my Mom earlier.. she passed away in March of 2010.. This was the most terrible thing Ive ever had to deal with.. No matter how prepared and even knowing that its going to happen, losing a parent is so hard to deal with. 2 weeks after she passed, I found out I was pg. This was God's gift to help me deal with Moms death.
Caroline was born Nov 23, 2010, 3 days after Moms birthday.
DH's son, lives with us.. SD, lives with her mom.
But here, we are. One big blended Family.
DH, Me, SS, 15, SD, 14, DD1, 8, DD2 16mo.

My step dad (who pretty much raised me) died from cancer at 56 and it is very hard. I'm glad you were given a little miracle to help get you through it. Alzheimer's is a bad disease that just makes it so difficult on family members. I have lost 3 family members already and my grandmother currently has it.
BTW I also have a little Caroline! She's almost 3 months.
