EBF with a formula question!

After looking at the last post about saving $ or not breastfeeding... just wondering, if you wanted to share... what does it cost to exclusively formula feed? One huge motivation I had for EBF was the cost of formula, just curious if it is as expensive as I thought.

I EBF DD, however I FF DS. In the beginning I could buy just 2 cans of formula about every month and a half but at one point it got to where I was buy 3 or 4 a month. It is about $23 a for the larger quanities so you are looking around $92 if you are buying 4 cans a month. It does start to go down around 6 months + because they are eating more solids and drinking less formula. I think BF is expensive to start but in the end you really do save the money.

I got bottles from my shower and we are using ready to formula which would cosy about $38 per week. With coupons it costs next to nothing some weeks. Powdered costs about half that and we will switch soon....I have soooo many samples (at least a few weeks worth)

Unfortunately I am not saving that much money...I started BFing and bought the pump and bras and stuff but my supply never picked up. I don't regret spending that money since DS got BM for a little while but I definitely didn't take the most economical route with feeding DS.

This is WAY less than I thought... I thought it would be close to 100$ a week, obviously I overestimated.

Between coupons, sales and rebate checks, I think I spent $40 on two refill boxes of Enfamil the last time I bought it. That lasts us not quite a month. We got bottles for our shower so I didn't have to buy them but will need to get more of the larger ones soon.

I EBF now, but with both babies had to supplement for at least a few weeks at the start. I don't work though, never bothered to buy a pump (my sis in law lent me hers.. and if she hadn't I would have just rented for the few weeks I needed it.. HATE pumping!) I can understand how nursing can be expensive if you are Exclusively pumping and need an expensive one and bottles as well. But for me, compared the the start when we were having to buy formula as well as herbs for my milk supply, EBF costs next to nothing and is way easier without all the washing of the bottles.. how i hate washing bottles!

I just posted on the last post about how much we spend on formula. We use 2 cans a week of formula at $14 each. We spend about 115 a month on formula

We signed all our family and friends up to get the free samples of Good Start, and I also signed up for the free samples of the Enfamil and Similac which I can now trade for the Good Start.

The big cans of Good Start in the store here are regularly $29 if not on sale, but we found a supplier that delivers them for $20 including tax. I would say we go through one big can a week these days.

We switched from EBF to EFF a few weeks ago for various reasons. I thought I would resent paying for formula, but I commented to DH the other day that its an expense I don't mind at all.
