Neocate or Elecare and Tricare...anyone?

My LO was recently prescribed Neocate and Tricare does not cover.  I am told they might override it and cover if the necessary steps are taken, i.e.  call from doc deeming medically necessary.  So far I am having the hardest time getting this to go thru.  Was just wondering if anyone out there has Tricare and has luck with getting their approval for either one of these formulas.  TIA.

  • I don't have tri care but when we tried it for DS we had to have a lot of paper work from the doctors It was a pain but don't quit. Also I know that if you buy direct it is cheaper than at the stores and maybe check Craigslist Il

  • I didn't have Tricare when my DD was on that, but we were able to file for a Loophole policy through the welfare office and get it covered under the access card (PA Medical Assistance). We don't qualify for MA because of our income, but the loophole policy is for people who have "disabilities." I would check into it. With the right paperwork from the doc, they state might pay for this for you.

    GL. Neocate is EXPENSIVE!

  • I actually work for the company that makes Neocate. We have a program called Nutricia Navigator that will help you get Neocate covered. The website is Nutricia-NA.com/NutriciaNavigator. Don't give up!
