Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Anyone still losing weight from BF/EP?

I am now down 20 pounds PP...I dont eat that much, mostly because I am on the run a lot and chasing a toddler. I EP and expected to lose some but I havent been this weight since HS and dont get me wrong, I am enjoying it. I did however quit drinking since I became PG (and I know I had extra weight from beer/alcohol). Could this be one reason for the pounds coming off ( not drinking anymore?) Anyone else lose a ton of weight?

  • I've actually gained. I have to keep calories up to keep my supply up. :(

  • I'm down to my pre preg weight and would probably be still losing if I wasn't eating way too much candy and 2 breakfasts a day plus multiple snacks Embarrassed I pretty much eat all day long. EBF/pumping takes a lot of calories.

  • I've lost quite a bit too. Im seven lbs under my pre pregnancy weight.  I havent been this weight since hs either. Once she weans or starts eating actual solid meals I expect to gain some back. Which ,frankly, I.m ok with.

  • Yes, I've also lost a lot, I'm 10 pounds under my pp weight (which was at the low end of normal bmi). I expect to gain some when I wean but it's a pain now because I don't want to buy a bnch new clothes but my pants are falling down.
  • At times I have been 15 pounds under my per-pregnancy weight. I can not remember the last time I weighed that much. I have been fairly steady lately, which I am happy about. it might sound crazy, but I really don't want to lose any more. I would be okay if I gained 10 pounds once I stop breastfeeding. Of course I am concerned that I will stop and gain 20, but that is another issue.

The alcohol may or may not be a factor. I would think it might depend on how much you were drinking before. If you were drinking every day, then cutting it out probably is having an effect.

  • I'm 23 pound under my pre-pregnancy weight. I keep joking with DH that I will BF until DD is 18, lol. I'm sure when I wean in a few months I will have to watch what I'm eating! I agree with pp about the alcohol. If you were drinking everyday, yes it makes a difference as alcohol has a ton of calories but if it was just once in a while, probably not.

  • I seem to be steady right now but I am under my PP weight as well. I am looking forward to when I can stop nursing (hoping my supply makes it to a year) so that I can gain it back as I am already on the petite side. I have to force myself to eat TONS of food even if I'm not hungry. My doctor asked me what was up when I went in for my regular annual and just told me to make sure I am taking in extra calories.

This!  I eat all day long, but somehow am at my pre-preg weight minus a couple lbs.  I kind of like it...but I will be in a whole mess of trouble once I wean!

  • Me!!! I was down 20 lbs below my pre preg weight (and I was a size 5 pre preg :S)
It was very frustrating b/c everyone kept telling me I wasn't eating enough, that I should stop BFing, etc.
I've now put on about10 lbs and am fairly steady at this weight now. The only way I've been able to put on any weight is by eating nonstop though.
I do wonder what will happen when I stop, but for now I'm taking full advantage of being able to eat whatever I want :)
I definitely drank more than I do now, I've only had a few wknds where I've actually consumed multiple drinks and I did put on weight from that- probably more bloating than anything, lol...but I agree, not drinking would definitely be a factor.

  • Yes!Baby is 7 months old and I went from 117 PP, down to 107 in the first couple of months, up to 130 at birth and am now 102. It's crazy! I eat all.day.long! I had to go buy all new clothes because I went down a pant size! I stopped drinking because we were TTC but would occasionally drink during period week but I rarely drank anyway. I'm just kind of nervous to see what I'll do when I stop BF!
  • I wasnt drinking a ton per se,but I drank a lot of beer which packs on the pounds. I am thinking my body just shed all that beer weight I carried away. I know I will have to watch what I eat when I wean as well but like PP said, Id love to pump for anothe 18 years!

  • No. I no longer BF, but I do weigh about 7 lbs less than PP.  I was quite skinny PP, so I'm looking skeletal now.  I feel like running around after DD is burning a ton of calories.  I'm also back into my serious workout routine, so that has to be part of it.
