Success after IF

Leg cramps :(

So I remember getting these in the middle of the night with DD and have been dutifully eating my bananas but I'm finding that I'm starting to get them anyway and of course they are so painful.  Any other decent sources of potassium or ways to avoid leg cramps in the middle of the night when I can't scream?

Re: Leg cramps :(

  • Dehydration can cause cramping too. Maybe increasing your water intake throughout the day will help.

  • I'm sure you're doing this, but stretching really helps.  When I would start to get one, I would flex my toes up towards my head and it would relieve it immediately.

I'd wake up DH and he would hold my toes because I couldn't will them to move when it hurt so bad :(

So sorry you're dealing with this already.  Ditto the water, but unfortunately no other suggestions.

  • I'm sorry you're cramping. I ditto the water. I got them a lot while pregnant, too. Have you tried a potassium supplement? They have helped my dad quite a bit.

On another note. Are you team green? Did I miss your A/S results?

Ugh, I'm sorry you're dealing with this.  I remember how much those suckers hurt.  I agree with flexing your toes.  For me, this stopped them immediately.  And ditto the dehydration suggestions.

  • You need ALL the "ums" - potassium, calcium and magnesium.  Take a cal/mag supplement - and keep eating those bananas!
    Wheee!

  • I had them so bad with both pregnancies!! They are horrible!! I did find that more water and gatorade during the day helped. I also heard an old wive's tale about placing a certain type of soap under the mattress, I think it was dial but can't remember. I never tried it, but I know people who swear by it.

Oh yeah, I also heard that you can do a cup of hot water with a tablespoon or two of apple cider vinegar before bed. I've done that before but didn't do it every night and still had cramps.
