Inserts needed for NB prefolds?

I just prepped all of my nb prefolds, and we plan just to use them with covers. Now I am wondering if I need to have any inserts on hand to add to them, do I? If so, what kind? Baby will be here in less than 3 weeks, and I want to make sure I am prepared. TIA!

  • I don't think you'll need to add anything for absorbancy but you might want to get some fleece liners in case your LO can't or doesn't like to feel wet. You can buy a fleece remnant at a fabric store for cheap and just cut it.

  • Thanks! That sounds like a good idea, even better that it is cheap and easy!
  • DS pees through his newborn diapers and prefolds in an hour so we ended up buying some bumgenius stay dry doublers (they come in 6 packs for like $11-$12) and really like them. They are two layers of microfiber and a top layer of fleece so it can go against their skin, keep them dry, and doesn't add too much extra bulk.

  • Thanks, I will put them on my list!
