Went to the dr. yesterday, and she told me that she got a job offer out of state, and most likely would be taking it. So upset. I really trust her, and I am super self conscious as it is, so for her to tell me I would be switching to a male doctor that I have not met this far along in the game, I was really devastated.....
Plus, she wants me to do regular ultrasounds now to make sure LO wasn't breech because she was at my 3d. So I just wanted her to be the one who walks me through that process because I really don't want a C-section. Ugghhhh. I hope I'm not overreacting. I'm a FTM and I am nervous about everything and this doctor is really great. Blagh.
Re: OB is leaving me... :-(
That really sucks. My provider is also up in the air right now. I thought I would hate having a male OB, but I actually didn't have any problem with the ones who were on rotation during my labor.
As for being breech....don't panic yet. Get your U/S to see what LO is doing. Then you can start working on turning the baby.

You can also try a chiropractor. Mine claims to have a really high success rate, by just adjusting back and pelvis to provide more room for baby.
Post-puberty, I'd never had a male doctor, let alone a male ob/gyn before. But when I got pregnant, I wasn't thrilled with my current (female) ob/gyn, so I switched to an older male ob/gyn who had been recommended by several friends and my SIL.
I found that it wasn't that big of a deal. He has a pretty easy-going manner and is older, and you can tell that he's "seen everything" so to speak.
You can always try to switch to another female doctor, but it might not hurt to give the male doctor a try and see if you feel comfortable with him.
That sucks.
Do you think you can get a recommendation from friends or family? I switched OBs at the very beginning and now go to someone recommended by family members. I was nervous about a male OB at first too but he is wonderful.
That really sucks. My OB just left at the end of March and I was so sad because I felt so comfortable with her.
Are there any other OBs in the practice that you plan on switching to? Also start asking friends (and even your old OB!) for recommendations on a good one.
