On Monday my water broke at work. I was rushed to the hospital via ambulance then transferred to another hospital. I wasn't in labor, had no contractions, and my cervix was still closed. Now, I am in the hospital until I deliver. I made it to 24 weeks yesterday, which was a big goal for my doctors and now every day my little man stays in is a blessing. Every day, his chances of survival go up 2-3%.
I was just wondering if any of you have similar stories and can share anything with me. Stories, advice, anything.
Thank you so much!
Re: Share your stories?
I ruptured at 20 weeks with twin A. I was on bed rest for 6 weeks before I went into labor. I would make sure you get steroid shots for his lungs if you haven't already. I remember hearing of a few mommas who went much longer and even had their sack re-seal.
Find lots of movies, books and visitors to pass your time.
Both my twins are now thriving one year olds who are mobile and getting into everything.
Can I ask what is meant when you say 19 adjusted? I've seen ages written that way quite a few times and I really don't know what it means.
Thank you for all the responses

When a baby is born premature, they have two "ages". Their actual age is their birthday. My daughter is 17 months old b/c she was born 17 months ago. Their adjusted age is kind of like their developmental age. You count that age from their due date. My daughter was born 3.5 months before her due date, so her adjusted age would be 13.5 months old.
Typically the doctors will use their adjusted age when asking questions about the babies development, feeding, etc.
Feel free to ask someone to clarify if I didn't explain that well!
my water broke at 28 weeks. they put my on strict bedrest at the hospital. i had 2 steriod shots for my sons lungs and several antibiotics through an IV incase i had an infection. no infection ever surfaced thankfully so i was able to hold off labor for 2.5 weeks. during that time i slepts as much as i could, and watched ALOT of tv. i also read alot on here and taught myself how to crochet. its the small things that got me through the bedrest like painting my nails or coloring my daughter a picture. the nurses where i was were great, and often came to my room on their break to talk so i wouldnt be lonely. my advice to you is, dont give up hope! your body can and hopefully will do amazing things. my thoughts and prayers are with you.
oh by the way, my wyatt is now 10 weeks old and weighs over 11lbs. and he shouldve only been born on the 12th of this month : )
