Lucius's cough went away, finally. I'm SO thankful for that! Now the doctors are working on determining which medicine helped.
Today he had a swallow study. Since the coughing has stopped, I didn't expect them to find anything. However, they discovered that he's swallowing into his lungs. Argh! Feels like it's always something! They gave us a thickener to use on his formula, but he hates it and won't eat the thickened formula. I'm not sure what we have to do - we are supposed to follow up with a speech pathologist. Our pulmonologist might also refer us to a GI doc - I should find out more today at his pulm appointment.
He also has an appointment with an allergist to determine what's causing his hives. I'm going to go broke with these medical bills - especially if I get fired for missing so much work! LOL

Re: Sigh... more doctors...
We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)

That's one of the questions I'm going to ask the pulmonologist. (He's the one that ordered this test). I probably could, but I'm not sure L would drink that, either. He's really weird about textures.
LOL - when we were selecting insurance plans last year, he was healthy and our medical costs had always been super low. We didn't pick the best plan. Now I'm kicking myself for that - we've already paid close to 1k just this year for copays and coinsurance, and we still have another couple thousand before we hit our out of pocket max.
I feel aweful for you!
DS also has a swallow issue, he was diagnosed at 2 months after being hospitalized with bilat pneumonia.
DS also sees a speech therapist once a week for an hour (Or 2 our speech therapist is amazing and sometimes shows up early).
He is on thickened formula. We were originally on rice because between birth and 2 months his pedi thought his coughing was AR. We tried to switch to thickit and while DS ate it he also began losing weight (rice cereal was adding calories to his bottle) so we got the blessing to do rice as a thickening agent.
One issue with switching to rice is its inconsistent. The same measurement wont always produce the same consistency. DS is on nectar thick (there is nectar, honey, and pudding) and DH and I both worked in a nursing home and we can easily eyeball the consistency to ensure its correct.
Feel free to ask me anything. I'll answer the best I can.
