Pumping and supplies at work?

Hi- going back to work next week.. :(  and wondering how many times people pump at work? I know we are supposed to pump every time baby would feed but not sure that is realistic.. Also, how many pump bottles and shields do you bring and how do you store the milk in the fridge (in separate bottles or combine milk in bottles, bags, etc)? Thanks for any tips and words of wisdom!!

I work 7-4 and pump three times at 9, 12, and 3 (about when she eats at daycare). I pump just enough to supply her with milk for the next day.

I bring one set of parts and have a backup set of parts at the office in case I forget them at home. I put the flanges in a ziplock and keep them in the fridge between sessions and don't wash them until I get home. The milk I pump gets stored in bottles in the insulated bag that came with my pump and I freeze the icepack each day at work.

    Good luck!

I pump 3X at work.  I have an "emergency" set of pump horns at work (after forgetting them once that was all the encouragement I needed to do this!), and I bring one set for the day.  I pump, then pour what I got into bottles that will be for the next day.  These bottles go in a cooler in the fridge.  The pump horns go in another cooler in the fridge (no need to wash then!).  Rinse.  Repeat.  Granted, then I have about 3 coolers (including lunch) in the fridge!  But no one else really needs to put anything in the fridges at work, right?!

  • When I first went back to work I pumped 3 times. I brought 4 5-oz bottles which fit in the cooler that came with my pump. I would combine the first session into one bottle. The second session into another bottle and the third session I kept in the their own bottles. I also kept extra freezer bags in my pump bag in case I pumped more then expected. I only have one set of shields and I wash them after each session.
