I didn't post a bunch but thought I would share my birth story. Good luck girls!
My due date was March 27th and once again we had passed right by the date. So we scheduled our NST and ultrasound for Monday the 2nd of April. They said everything looked good and I was having some mild contractions but they were not doing anything so we scheduled another NST for the 6th and an induction for Monday the 9th. Very nervous but very excited to have an end in sight.
That night was a typical late night for us. I didn't get to bed tell sometime after midnight then around 2am Gavin woke me up asking to get in bed with us. That was when I realized there was a good chance we were not going to make it to the 9th. I went to the couch to try to get some sleep just in case. Thankfully I fell asleep rather quickly but it was rather short. I woke up at 4am pretty much positive I was in labor. Took a shower, sat on the exercise ball, tried timing a few contractions and around 5am I decided it was time to wake Steve. My contractions were rather irregular at that time 4-6 mins apart and around 30 seconds long. It was decided that I should call the midwives and see what they wanted me to do. Susan (the on call mw) said that I should go ahead and come in and see if I had made in progress. So we called and had Grandma and Grandpa S come sit with the boys.
We
arrived at labor and delivery a little after 6am and they checked me
and I was a 4-5. So they quickly started getting things ready
assuming that I would go fast. The nurses and midwives did a really
good job following my birth plan, I never once had to remind them of
anything on it....I did however remind them that once I hit 10 baby
will come fast. The monitored me for a 20 minutes rechecked me to
find out I was at 7 then unhooked me from the monitors. I labored
sitting up in bed for a while until it was suggested that I get in
the shower. The shower helped but standing up was exhausting. Once
I was out and dried off the checked me again...still at a 7. They
asked if they could break my water to see if that was what was
slowing me down. So around 8:30am the broke my water and I labored
in bed on my sides for a few hours trying to sleep in between
contractions. Everyone kept reminding me that I was in transition
and that I was handling it really well and that no one could even
tell I was in labor. I was checked a few more times to find out I
was still a 7. Around 11am the midwife said my labor was pretty
much stalled and that I could get out of bed and try squatting or
they could start pitocin. (Pretty sure the word pitocin sent me
slightly over the edge.) I decided to get out of bed and see if I
could get things moving. Steve and I swayed and I attempted to
squat, for a while. Then I switched to the birthing ball somewhere
in this time I asked Steve for the epidural and he did just what he
was supposed, kept reminding me that I did not want it. I was so
tired and had to go back to the bed. They rechecked and I was around
an 8. I then asked the nurse for the epidural. She said I would
need to get a IV and have a full liter before I could get it. (best
thing I did was refusing an IV to begin with) So we started the IV.
Steve left the room and came back with the midwife right behind him.
She wanted to make sure this is what I really wanted and told me I
was almost done and that I was just tired. Everything Steve had been
saying....wonder if Steve talked to the midwife.
They then had me get in this crazy position called the Texas Roll to help get baby to drop in to position. We were going to do 20 mins on each side and then recheck. I knew as soon as I was in that position that this was what I needed. The contractions started coming more on top of each other. A little while in to the second side I was involuntarily pushing. The nurse kept saying I needed to stop or I was going to swell my cervix and be unable to deliver. Then it hit. I told Steve the baby was coming now and from past experience he knew. The turned me on to my back and baby was crowning Steve ran out of the room to try and find a dr and the nurse held the baby in with her hand while attempting to call for assistance. An OB that was at the nurses station ended up delivering and from what I gather he came out side ways....his shoulders didn't turn vertical after his head was delivered, I guess they stayed horizontal. His face was pretty bruised up but it went away in less 24 hours. He was born at 1:01pm, weighed 9lbs 2 ozs and was 21.5 inches long. Steve definitely kept me sane and was a huge factor in me not getting the epidural this time.
It's wrote for my baby book so please excuse the names.
Re: birth story - very long
Congratulations! I'd be very pleased if my labour goes that well
9 angels in heaven-3 in my arms and 1 in the NICU
Mono/di twin girls: Josephine born to heaven and Evangeline born Earthside at 25w
They put me on my side then put the bed table over my bed had me put right leg up on it and then twist my upper body so that my left arm was behind my back and I was pretty much laying on my chest. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you so much for sharing! I am so looking forward to a natural birth and am afraid of being to weak. I love hearing stories like this that let me know that it is ok to have moments of wavering decision because I will have the right people by my side to cheer me on and support my original birthing plan as much as possible!
Such a beautiful story, Congratulations!
