Our stupid attorney (vent)

Called our attorney last week because BM stopped paying SDs orthodontist bill and they're unable to keep treating SD until her portion is paid.  He said based on that, the money she still owes us from a bunch of other expenses and the fact that she also isn't paying SDs tuition for dance classes (a class she signed her up for, if they aren't paid by June 1 SD can't participate in recital) we would go after her for monthly child support.  Attorney was to send her a letter informing her if she didn't pay all of these things up by May 1 we would see her in court.

I called yesterday to see if they had sent it yet, mostly because DH hasn't gotten a call from her cussing him out like he usually does if we have to involve the courts.  Dude hasn't even started it yet.

SDs next ortho appointment is in 2 and half weeks.  He assured us he could have this all handled by then.  ::rolls eyes:: Yeah right.

I can't wait to Dave Ramsey this guy's @$$, so we can get a new attorney on retainer.

  • This is the thing I hate most about enforcing anything through the courts.  Attorney's and the legal system move so slowly it will drive you crazy.  Hopefully, you lit a fire under his butt and you will see some results soon.

  • ugh honestly, attorneys suck.  they take their sweet time.  doesn't matter how much you pay them.  I wouldn't count on having made ANY progress before SD's apt. either BM pays up on her own or SD doesn't receive treatment for a few weeks.  sucks for SD but the only other option would be to have you guys pay BM's portion.  talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

  • you don't need the attorney to send the letter, your dh can send it, as long as he cc's the attorney it is sufficient

This is true.  We were just hoping the attorney's signature would carry some weight with BM and inspire her to get off her butt.  But I guess as long as it shows him CC'd she might take us seriously.

    Thanks!

  • We've been waiting for our attorney to file something in court for two months. This is the second attorney we've had. I work with attorneys for my job and 95% of them suck because they work for themselves or have one partner so there is no boss really breathing down their neck to meet deadlines and the clients are at their complete mercy because they have thousands of dollars, years and their children's futures at stake. It sucks all around
