In light of this whole FB privacy fiasco...maybe the Bump should relax their "no changing the screen name" policy. I have tried e-mailing to get my name changed only to be told they are not capable of doing so.
Honestly, if they can figure out FB, twitter and Google+ links they can figure out how to allow us to change our screen names. Even if each account had a one time use screen name change allowance.
I know a lot of ladies will still leave or create new accounts regardless of being able to change their name. But many of us are recognizable by our screen names alone and I would feel fine about the FB thing if that weren't the case.
I know her response will be just to create a new SN, that is the response I got to my e-mail. However most ladies like their silver, gold, platinum status, etc. And the Bump has to understand how much we like it, if they didn't they wouldn't have added that feature.
Re: Kimbo- A suggestion for Bump Kathleen
Hmm I was just about to email her to try and change mine.
I wonder why they won't let you but others have. MommaA & DramaMama I think for sure were able to and that was only a few months ago.
I know. I wanted it changed when I was pregnant and was told they couldn't do it. When I came back to the board I saw that MommaA changed hers so tried again, and was told the same thing.

yeah i find that odd that this was the response. i got mine changed easy peasy. however, i DID email Kathleen directly...
is that different than then community@thebump.com? And if so can you PM the email or post it here?
What is her direct e-mail? I have used community@thebump.com multiple times and the ONLY time they responded was in regards to my screen name.

I did this as well and had no trouble getting mine changed. It has been a few months ago though.
this is the email in my sent mail:
kmulpeter@xogrp.com
this was after i recieved a message from TB saying i wasn't able to.
hope that helps!
E-mail sent. Wish me luck!

Many of us got name changes right away. My guess is now that the outrage has died down it is back to business as usual.
What is your reasoning for wanting to change your name? If your name is in your SN I heard they are more willing to change it due to privacy issues.

It stemmed from the same privacy concerns as others around FB and twitter. While my SN does not have my "given" name in it, it's a fairly unique name that is very connected to me over the past fifteen years.
If deleting my account would delete my posts, I would happily do that and create a new one, even if it means being a "newbie" again. But it doesn't. I've tried to delete my posts myself (with the idea that I would then create a new screenname) but as I mentioned above, I can't get to a lot of them. And there are a lot of them. Though I've exchanged three or four emails with the bump, they can not suggest a solution to me.

I'm mostly frustrated because four women on my birth month board have very recently had name changes, and I was told this week in an email from the bump that they "assure (me) that's not the case" because it's against the rules. Clearly, it's not a rule that is followed consistently...
Anyway! I was wondering how it worked out for others. Thanks for your response.
