Please feel free to flame me but I really wasn't planning on buying maternity swimwear. Am I nuts? I was just going to rock my regular old bikinis. (I should add I am NOT model thin. I'm 5'9 and a size 6).
For those that are buying them - why are you buying them? For those who weren't planning on it - why not? I figure I'm going to have to buy a whole new wardrobe as it is, I was going to try to save a little $ buy wearing pre-preg swimwear & under garments ...
Re: Anyone else NOT buying maternity swimwear?
I hadnt planned on it. I dont go to the pool often (my parents have one) but I usually just wore an old swim suit or my bikini (if no one was around--size 10, but who cares).
However as I am typing this I realize we will be going to my SILs who lives on a lake and doing all that frequently this summer. So, I might just get a maternity tankini top or wear a mat tank top over my bikini.

I didn't want to, but I don't do the bikini thing, so I don't have a choice it seems. My current swimsuits are just not cutting it due to the newfound boobage. I'm little though (size 2), so I'm hoping they're stretchy enough I can just buy a larger size.
Or I may just live on the edge and buy a two piece!
Very true. Plus I live in Connecticut so no matter what I do, I will not be the worst looking thing on the beach or by the pool. LOL

You guys... My boobs don't fit into my pre-pregnancy bras, much less my halter top bikini tops. I need SUPPORT. Like, gimme an underwire, some padding, and like a holster or something. I'll be buying something new to hold these bullet-boobs up.
In other news, as least I'll travel with my own flotation devices this summer.

The problem with pre-pregnancy bikinis is that they don't sit right on the bottom and tend not to be made for a pregnant woman's growing bust.
This is the maternity swimwear I used during my pregnancy. The waistband comes up higher which is what you need to keep you from looking like your bikini bottom is missing. It's also a lot more comfortable. It certainly had better bra support than my regular bikini and I'm a 36D.
I wore my pre pregnancy bikinis during my first pregnancy but this summer I'll be at the pool with my daughter several times a week and at swimming lessons so I'm going to invest in something a little more conservative this time around.
If I wasn't planning to spend so much time at the pool I'd probably just make do with suits I already have but my daughter LOVES the water so we're going to be at the pool a LOT.
