Yes. My dr said they should. My husband, the grandparents, and my sister and her husband (they are expecting their first as well) will all be getting it.
I can't get the ticker to work, but I have two sons:
My mom and dad are. There isn't anyone else that will be around more than once and more than a little while in the first couple of months.
ETA: I should also mention that I don't live in an area that has had a whooping caugh out break. So, while I understand it could happen at anytime, I'm more lax than I would be if I lived somewhere that had had an outbreak.
My dad, mother and DH all will get the booster (my mom thinks she may be up to date so will check.) My one brother and SIL are already up to date. My other brother is going to get his but maybe not until after the baby is born bc he procrastinates like that ha.
I would be less concerned about it - i'd still want my mom and DH to have it- but we had a whooping cough outbreak here a few weeks ago so that makes me feel more strongly about it with visitors.
Yes. We talked to our families about what whooping cough is, told them about California's outbreak in 2010 (over 9k cases!) and then mentioned how fatal it is to infants. Adults can exhibit no symptoms for up to 100 days. That's scary.
My dad and closest sister are current. My other local sister has a young son who is current and is inquiring if she is with her doctor. My mom got hers yesterday. SO and DS are current. I'll get mine after delivery.
SO has requested his most-likely-to-visit siblings get it. He gets to deal with his family and has told them that whoever isn't current can sit in a room with LO, but won't be touching, holding, or kissing LO until he has had his first round of Dtap at 2 months old.
I feel that's a bit extreme but I leave his family up to him.

We've requested this from our family. Needless to say, some weren't happy about it. But it's our baby, and his health is the most important thing to us.

DH is, I have asked my parents too which they both are happy to do when they get back from being snow birds in FL, and am going to ask DH to have my MIL. I really want to ask my one SIL who is closer to us because she works in a day care and her bf has two boys in school that live with them but I don't think I can.
