Re: *UO Thursday*

  • I hate attending outdoor weddings. I do like the outdoors, but I hate dealing with heat/chill, humidity, bugs, allergens, walking on sand or bumpy ground, etc. when I am dressed to go to a wedding. I think it looks better in pics than it actually plays out in real life. This could be also due to the fact that I live in a very hot and humid area where there's not really a spring or fall, just two or three months of winter and 9 months of hot, hot summer.

Getting married on a beach? That's the ultimate worst, speaking from a guest's perspective. But by all means, go elope on a beach.

I love hanging the clothes out to dry.  And I feel like I'm more efficient with the laundry because I can see the line.  The dryer could stop and I don't even hear it sometimes.

It is against or deed restrictions for our HOA to have outside clothes lines, so even living in a house it is not always an option.

Yea, our condo in the city does not allow for hang drying but I wish I could hang dry more of our clothes.  I do hang dry most of my dresses.

And on the other side...I rather cut my hands off than hang my laundry to dry...Ugh, bugs, squirrels and birds on my clean laundry doesn't sound appealing at all. Bird poop doesn't scream clean to me.

We have 3 dogs, so it is a constant battle against the hair. The dryer helps remove pretty much all of the dog hair on the clothes. When I hang things to dry, I always have to use the lint roller after.

I used to line-dry DS's cloth diapers, until I went to pull the line out (we have a retractable one because having a line at all is against our HOA policy) and hundreds upon hundreds of stink bugs came out with it =*(  They were living inside the reel because it was warm, I guess.  Ugh.  I haven't used it since!

LOL @ squirrels.  What do you think they're going to do?  A high-wire stunt just to rankle your clothes?!  We have plenty of squirrels (SOMEONE close by to us feeds them...grrr) and we've never had a problem with squirrels.  In fact, we've only encountered a bug or two.  But I shake out the clothing before I fold it so they always fly away.  I have worried about bird poop, but no problems in years and years!

The term "we're pregnant"  really, really irks me beyond words! Sorry but your husband/boyfriend/SO is NOT pregnant too. It's only the woman.  The man can leave/walk away and have no baby, no labor, nothing, the pregnant woman, not so much!  Now the term "we're expecting" (a baby) is much more appropriate.

  • The Office (the show) is really hit or miss these days. Not what it used to be.

I think that for destination weddings or weddings in which a large number of invitees are from out of state, you should always send a Save the Date. An invitation to leave the country seven weeks prior just doesn't cut it.

I don't want dust and grime on my clean clothes.

  • I line dry my laundry in the summer.

Lined dried laundry smells amazing, especially sheets.

You people don't know what you are missing and there is no "grime" on line dried clothes!  I have never had my laundry pooped on by a bird, infested with bugs or any of the above.  I think it's one of those things that just sound foreign and weird to you until you try it.

I am shocked that so few people line dry their clothes.  Where I am from, everyone has a clothesline.

  • If I had to line-dry my clothes, I wouldn't be able to do laundry at least 9 months out of the year.  It's not sunny everywhere, lol.

At what age does this not apply?  I think I stopped onsies at 12 months - but still think of my LO very much as my baby.

I hate the word "sposies". I also hate the word "Kinder", instead of Kindergarten. I have never seen/heard these words prior to The Bump. I cringe every time I see them on TB.  They sound like baby talk, which is another thing I can't stand.

Speaking of stupid TB jargon, I hate the terms "labor buddy" and "BFP buddy" and don't understand the point.

Yeah, my only "labor buddy" was my husband.

ETA: Sorry, forgot to quote. That was in reference to jag's UO: "I get the chills when I see a baby that is dressed without a onesie underneath. When their shirt rides up, they can't pull it down, just weirds me out a bit."

I side eye this one. My kids never ever wore onesiies under clothes, it get to be 110 here they woul roast, heck even when we lived in Maryland during the winter they never did. I think people way overdress their kids for the weather, and I feel bad for them.
  • I agree with the onesie UO.  It always bugs me when a baby's shirt rides up and there is no onesie underneath.  Of course, this wouldn't apply in warmer climates or in the summer.

DS wore onesies all winter and we are just starting to get into weather where he won't need them anymore.  Next winter, he will be too old for a onesie and that makes me sad!

Oh AMEN!!!!  I restrained myself earlier this week from going off on this with someone new to the local boards here...  It's all well and great that "we're expecting" but WE are not pregnant!!!  Only the WOMAN can get/be pregnant!!!

As for the clothes line discussions, my parents have one but I honestly don't ever want one...  Too many times as a kid waking up with wood ticks crawling on me in the middle of the night or having to dig out embedded ones!!!   That said, I have hangers inside our basement for them, but believe it or not, line drying clothes even inside a house actually has a law against it!!!

  • I haven't seen a clothes line in years and when I did, it was literally people who lived in poverty (like some of my family). It's weird how different areas are so...different.

Anyway, you would really think I was lazy because I have replaced my iron with my dryer. I love my dryer!

  • I hate big concerts.  I hate the crowds, the cost, the fact you can't see anything unless you are right upfront (equally annoying due to the crowds).  Nothing about it is appealing to me in any way

I do like live music, I just like a smaller, more intimate venue

Is this your way of saying you do not want the Springsteen tickets I am selling for elevtybillion dollars on Stubhub?

I thought about it earlier this week, and then your email reminded me!  So no, I am not interested.  Just like your pregnancy was your way of telling me you aren't interested in Eagles' Thursday night barnburner against Cincinnati this year.  I am totally selling that one

That one might bump you into a new tax bracket it will make you so much money.  Be careful.

I think I might give it to my niece in exchange for babysitting

LOL This is what I was thinking.

I grew up on the Oregon Coast and if you line dried a towel in the summer it would be stiff as cardboard when it was done, and it would take like two days.

I saw this happen in the dead of winter here in Ohio.  A little baby was being carried outside and his shirt was half way up  his back.  I felt horrible.
