Dropping in to TB for the first time in forever, because I'm getting a little nervous about son's speech. Around 11-12 months, he was saying a bunch of words. But now at 14 months, all he says is da. He knows tons of words and can point things out, but when he says their name, it's always "da." If it's a two-syllable word, it's da da. He is really trying, but he can never make another consonant sound.
What do you think? Concerning?
Re: Da da da da da da
Hi! I miss you!
B's speech regressed during her molars (which are still coming in several months later) and when she learned to run. She's just started to pick up her words again and to finally get new ones.
I'd definitely mention it to the pedi at his 15 month check up though.

Does he have ear infections frequently? Perhaps there's fluid in his ears. If you have a 15-month check-up, I'd definitely ask the pedi about it at that time.
It could also be that he's focusing more on physical/fine-motor development rather than on speech.
Hi!!
We are having the same issue with DS. At our 15 month appointment, I mentioned it and the doctor also said molars. We are in the midst of molar cutting (times two! Ugh) and its brutal. I'll bring it back up by 18 months if necessary.
Hi, Sona, Scout and Lily - Miss you guys, too!
I was wondering if it might be molars and walking, both of which are very much occupying his thoughts right now.
I'll cool my jets for now but bring it up at his 15 month.
