I decided to sign up for dependent care, the full amount allowed ($5000) this past open enrollment period. First month reimbursement went fine. Second month, they denied it because someone screwed up and didn't see the date on my statement so it had to be resubmitted and ended up taking a month to get my money. This past month, I submitted on April 3, and check on the status last week because it should have been paid to me by the 13th. Nothing. They said nothing was submitted. Whatev. I submit again...this time I scanned the documents and our benefits coordinator spoke directly with the person who manages our account and emailed them to her at her request. She promised it would be there tomorrow. Well...I log in today to check on the status, and it was denied all the way down. This is an extra $400+ that comes out of my paycheck, it is my money in the first place and the hoops they are making me jump through to get this back is beyond ridiculous.

Re: I am so mad I could scream right now
Are you sure you are going to be able to use all $5k? I really try to stay away from HSA unless my company has the debit card option. It is too much stress and we don't have enough medical stuff to really benifit tax wise from it.
ETA: Your post is about Dependant care, not HSA. Hmm I havent sent in anything for reimbursement for my Dependant care yet. If it is going to be that much of an issue I better not wait until December like I planned.
I'm positive...this is for dependent care...daycare is $720 a month.
And I should note...I have not heard one single good thing about this new company from any of my co-workers...even using a debit card for health care expenses, they are getting major run arounds from this company (we previously used Principal but switched midway through the year last year when they got out of this business).
Sorry again I read HSA and you typed Dependent care. I better call mine and see if it is going to be an issue for reimbursement.
We have Fedelity (sp?) is that who your new one is. I hope to God not.
You can breathe about easier...we use Optum (which was recommended by Principal).
That sucks, mine have been coming through no problem. They basically send it back to me as soon as it comes out of my paycheck because daycare is more expensive than the monthly reimbursement (so they still owe me from the month before). Ours is through FBMC - Fringe Benefits Management Company. If you have any sway over who your company uses I recommend them.
My HR dept. screwed me up last year, I tried to set it up for Sept-December, and they just ignored me until after the deadline had passed to set it up. Then they emailed in November and were like, "so why are you only doing 4 months of dependent care for 2012?" They thought my 2011 form was a 2012 form.
I was thinking the same thing...my company uses this and after 2 years of fighting with them I cancelled it. But it looks like other companies aren't any better.
