So excited! Between DH launching this huge project at work and my post-baby part-time status at work, it's been tough trying to have a little getaway.
This will be our first time at the Cape. Any suggestions on what to see and do with baby in tow for those of you (if any), who have been?
We'll be driving up and staying in Eastham which is about a 15 minute drive from the center of the action.
Thanks for any tips or suggestions!
Re: Just booked our first family vacation to Cape Cod!
Oooh, good to know. I will look that place up - thank you! Yes, I hear P-Town is the place to be. Looking forward to it.

Nice!
My parents have a house in Truro (out towards p-town) and I have been going there every summer since I was 2.
I have a few reccomendations for places to eat in Welfleet (next to Eastham):
-The Beachcomber (go early as it turns into more of a bar type atmosphere at night)
-Moby ***'s (an institution, you can also BYOB).
-Mac's Seafood (great fried seafood on Welfleet harbor)
There are also a bunch of ponds in the area, so if you guys want to switch it up and not go to the beach one day you should head to a pond instead (warmer water with no waves).
Like PP mentioned, P-Town is a must. It's unlike any place else in the world and there are some really great places to eat and people watch.
This summer we are planning on taking Jack to an Orleans Cardinals baseball game. It is very family friendly (tons of kids running around) and you can bring a picnic and enjoy the game.
We are also going to take him on a hike through the Welfleet Audubon Sanctuary.
There is an old school drive-in movie theater on the Welfleet / Eastham line that plays kid friendly movies early in the evening.
When you get on the cape pick up one of the Cape Cod Kids guides and they will give you tons of suggestions and a calendar of events of kid friendly happenings.
Let me know if you need any other suggestions (like beaches or more adult restaurants if you guys are doing a date night).
HA! There's no way I'll forget that name now!
Thank you - this is really super helpful!
One more question. There seems to be a lot of beach options for kiddos. Which beach would you recommend?
TIA!

I haven't been to all the beaches in Eastham as we go to the beach in Truro, but off the top of my head you should check out Coast Guard Beach (ocean side) and First Encounter Beach (bay side). They are both known as "family friendly" beaches.
One of the great things about the Cape, especially the Outer Cape, is that you have the option of going to the Cape Cod Bay (warmer, calmer waters, usually less of a hike) or to the Atlantic Ocean (bigger waves, larger dunes, and colder water). And, like I mentioned earlier there are quite a few ponds (Great Pond & Herring Pond are both in Eastham) .
One thing to note about the beaches on the Atlantic Ocean side is that a few of them have a big dune that you have to walk up/down to get from your car to the beach and back.
One of the restaurants that I mentioned earlier, The Beachcomber, sits above Calhoun Hollow Beach (Welfleet), you could go to the beach and then have lunch or dinner at the restaurant. Here is a link to a picture.

Warning: Calhoun Hollow is one of the beaches that has a fairly big dune you have to walk up and down.
Hope this helps! Please let me know if you need anything else!
I almost forgot! You have to get a lobster roll! Arnold's and Friendly Fisherman are both in Eastham and have great "lobstah" rolls
You are the best! Thank you so much for all this great insider info - so very helpful!
