Pregnant after IF

If you have MTHFR - did your dr. give you anything for it?

Before you TTC?  After you were pg?

  • While TTC - baby aspirin and extra folic acid (folgard minus the B vitamins)

Starting the day of ET - all of the above plus I started on lovenox that day and am still taking one shot a day through pregnancy.

    Me: 37 DH: 40 TTC since 9/09
    #1 BFP 1/10/11; missed m/c discovered 7w5d
IF Dx: Endo, hetero MTHFR mutation, poor morphology
    #1 IUI: 1/18/12 = BFN
    #1 IVF/ICSI 4/2/12 = 2 x 7-cell and 1 x 5-cell transferred (3dt) = BFP!!
H was born at 41w2d on 12/29/12 - be still my heart!

  • I have 2 copies of c677t. Prior to getting pregnant I took 4mgs of folic acid, and after ET I started 81mgs of aspirin.

Both my RE and OB were against Lovenox. Not sure why since I've seen others that have hetero copies or only one copy on it.

  • During TTC I was on Lovenox and folic acid; once pg I was switched to BA for a little while, then only the folic acid.

  • I was put on baby asprin, folgard once a day and lovenox 5 days before transfer.  After  pg everything stayed the same except folgard was increased to twice a day.  The cycle we did this protocol was our successful cycle!

  • I only have a single gene mutation for MTHFR, so there is not thing that has to be done. My doctor strongly recommend I take Folgard.

  • Thanks ladies. I have a friend who has the signle gene mutation and her dr. wasn't going to have her take anything other than PNVs.  I was wondering if that's normal?  She's had multiple m/cs.

  • Folgard and baby aspirin...my homocysteine levels have always checked out within normal range so the MTHFR really hasn't been a factor even though I have double mutation.  (BTW, I do go to the hemotologist every 6 months to have my homocysteine levels checked and will continue to do so during my pregnancy.)
