Hi ladies,
Thanks for the advice. I spoke to the director this morning. She was very nice and reassuring though as many some posters mentioned really couldn't tell me anything about the situation citing confidentiality.
She did let me know that the "disenrolling" was not solely about this incident but that there had been "challenges" between the family and the center for some time and that she felt this was the best thing for both the family and the center/its teachers. She could not go into it beyond that. She was very gracious to me, but respectful of boundaries of confidentiality.
She also told me she would be filing the report along with its outcome in the "complaints binder" that all parents had access to and that she welcomed all investigation into the center as the children are her first priority.
She believes in her teachers, said they were devastated that anyone would think they'd harm or neglect the little ones in their care. Detailed both the state and her facility's teacher requirements, background check procedures etc.. Encouraged me to check with licensing (I have a call in - just to be safe) and said that she would keep me informed. She apologized that I was put in this situation and reiterated her commitment to the kids there and her desire to always have open communication with parents.
I think it went as well as it could have.
But really, this just brings up all my anxiety about being a working mom and having to trust someone else with my little guy. I thought I'd put that all to bed a while ago, but this has made me feel like you just never really know....
Gosh, I'm just not very trusting, I guess.
sigh
Re: Update: police called to daycare
It sounds like she's being open with the families about the results of the investigation by having the outcomes binder. I think it's great that you have a dc facility with cameras. That would give me a piece of mind in a situation like this.
Good luck!

sounds like a good discussion - and what I expected. Likely that family has been complaining about tons of small stuff - and then blew this way out of proportion... calling the police is SERIOUS if something isn't truly wrong- so I can see why they would have them leave the center.
