I had my WTF appointment this morning at 9 am. I went back into the office to sit with one of the RE's to figure out what happend? What went wrong?
Well, there wasn't much of an answer. But here are a few causes.
1. My AMH is on the lower end of normal at a 1.2. My RE told me this is something unusual for my age. But I feel like this test is so new there really aren't any set guidlines to a "norm".
2. My FSH is at a 7.9 from my last test in January. According to my RE this is at the higher end of normal for their office. (I feel like it's pretty normal though, no?)
3. This could just be how my body is and it doesn't matter how much meds they pump into y body, I just may never produce more than this. (However, most the RE's in my office do not believe this is the case.)
We could possible jump on the May cycle group, or wait until June. If we do May, I won't be surpressed. if we do June I'll go on BCP and be a late stopper. instead of taking my last pill Sunday it would be a Tuesday. Also, my Follistim has been upped form 300iu to two 250 iu injects a day. I think that's all for now... We are just taking it one step at a time.
Re: I had my WTF appointment
Huge {{HUGS}}!! I am so very sorry this cycle was a bust.
My old RE never tested my AMH levels and only tested my FSH 1x. (He is one of the top doctors in my area and I trusted him completely. I used to work for a company where he helped like 13 people get pg. He used to do IVF's but when his daughter became a teenager he wanted to be home more for her. So he only does IUI's now. We had to leave him to do our IVF cycle)
Anyhoo-- when I asked him about checking my AMH and FSH after my 7th IUI failed he said they were not "quanatative." His explanation = meaning you can have high or low numbers and still go on to have a successful/lucky cycle. He would never say it was a failure just an "unlucky cycle."
When we went to our first IVF consult the RE didn't want to test my levels either. He went straight into pushing for a donor egg cycle strictly based on my age (I was only 39 at the time). I left there crying and never went back to that clinic. We are at a new clinic now and my current RE did check all my levels and then some. They didn't seem to concerned that my AMH is only 0.67. It's on the low end of the normal range for my age.
Like I've seen people write on this board that it's all like one big science experiment and often more times than not it takes them a couple cycles to really figure things out.
I wish you lots and lots of luck on your next cycle whatever you decide to do.
