Rash or burn???

DD is almost seven months old, for the last couple of weeks all she has been doing is her new skill of sitting herself back up from a lying down position. How she does this is using her legs and both arms, but one arm usually gets stuck and she has to slowly go up but ends up dragging it on the carpet. So my question is I noticed a redness on her hand the has been rubbing on the carpet, it's just on her thumb and part of her hand next to her thumb. Do you think it's a rug burn? She doesn't seem to be in pain, I've touched it and she sucks that thumb. What should I do for her? Thanks for any and all advice.

    DS has had this too recently and I attributed it to his rolling around on the carpet and learning to scoot along. I noticed it on his knees one day and it looked like a rash however when I trid to wipe it with a babywipe he screamed which made me think rug burn. I put some aquaphor on it and within a day or two it was gone

    The only reason I don't think it's from her sucking her thumb is because its on her hand a little bit too. But I'm going to try the aquaphor, since pp said it helped.
