Hidden penis syndrome?

My LO was circumsized at 2 weeks old and had no complications or anything. Shortly after that he doubled his birth weight by the time he was 6 weeks old, that's when I started to notice his penis was being tucked inward. The Dr. said it's normal when babies gain weight so fast. I guess the glands around the penis swell up and kinda swallow it. So during diaper changes now we have to pull the skin down and clean the area. He's now 12 weeks and still has the issue. Anyone elses sons have this problem?

Re: Hidden penis syndrome?

  • Like inward under the skin? My DS is kind of like that. It freaked me out at first, but the Dr. said to keep pulling it back and put some Vaseline on it if it gets stuck. I actually went to the Ped's office about it. Crazy FTM...

  • Yeah during his bath I give it a little squeeze and it pops back out so I can clean it.  I've been wondering about it too so I'm glad someone else is discussing it!

  • I don't have this issue but I had some questions about my LOs circumcision; and I found out that since the 1990's "loose circumcisions' are more common and preffered ... They leave a little more foreskin behind then before; which is better for them down the road....meaning that it might not look as 'tight' as some of our hubby's or our generation men etc..

I guess that back in the day they used to take too much skin off which would hurt the guys once erect....also it is also believed that a little of the forskin left behind is just that much more feeling for them (during sex) down the road. Whisper

I'm glad this came up, I was just wondering about ds's circumcision. It seems like there's too much foreskin left and it comes up over the head of his penis. I also read online about loose circumcisions and was going to ask the dr at our next check up.
