Scheduled 2nd opinion appt

I was just going to call and ask a few questions. The first office which is one I first looked at after my RE retired never answers the phone. I can't take that. I mean never. I have called for a week. And no I never left a message, but I think someone should answer the phone.
So I called the RE that re-placed my first RE. He actually took 4 months before he came and is in a bad area traffic wise, but today when I called one of my old nurses answered the phone!! And she remembered me!
The RE is a super busy guy and she said he lacks bedside manner, but that he is really good and has gotten people pregnant they she is even surprised about! It felt good to talk to her. Of course the next appt isn't till June 4th, but that will give us some more time to just take a break.
I think we are going to skip the Uro. They do a sperm DNA genetic testing there and she said like my last RE said they she doesn't think a Uro would help.

I was holding back tears as I talked to her and still am all worked up. It was a shock to talk to her. She was there for my first m/c so it brought up all kind of things I guess.

I didn't even ask how much it would cost. That was my plan. I did see on their website that anesthesia is only $500. I paid $990 for IVF 2. The last one was worked in the 12k.

It will be good to talk to someone else.

Re: Scheduled 2nd opinion appt

  • Good luck, I hope the 2nd opinion really helps!

I would prob see a uro anyway, bc RE's order sperm tests....and don't really know what to do with the information.  Our first RE looked at DH, and said he needed to consider DS.  Neither of the uros we saw EVER said that.  It's just an entirely different way of thinking, and well worth it IMO.

I am still thinking of him seeing the Uro, but I think we will see the new RE first. Just see what he says and then go from there.

  • I really hope this new RE (with his bad b/s manner and all) will do the trick!  I know it is hard finding a new RE you feel comfortable with.  I am also inclined to agree with V.  I would go see the uro anyway.  It certainly wouldn't hurt.  MH went to one here so I could certainly give you his name if you need it.  I'm sending you a PM shortly!

    TTC since 3/07. IVF#1 = canceled. IVF#2 = 0% fertilization. IVF#3 = BFN. IVF#4 = c/p.
    Moving forward with Adoption 2017!

I have to agree with Vanessa - RE's jump to the DS but a Uro will look at the situation differently.

  • Our RE didn't think a uro would be able to help.  I didn't really give him too much credit for thinking that, BUT we don't have a uro that specializes in fertility here in town so I couldn't really pursue it further.  I'm glad that you are going for a 2nd opinion.  I hope they have some good answers for you!

  • Since they think it might be me too I want to see the new RE first. Then do the Uro. We aren't doing anything really till fall so we have time to get everything in. It just felt so good to talk to my old nurse. I love the one I have now, but I can't stay, just too much as gone bad there. This is a whole new buidling so as long as I don't brust into tears when I see the nurse I will be okay.

  • My awesome nurse left the practice earlier this year, so I will be cycling with a new nurse. I just found out my old nurse left to become a lactation consultant. I really hope I'll get to see her again soon-LOL!
