To moms of boys

My son likes to play with himself when I change his diaper. At first I thought it was just a random movement, but it happens with every diaper change. I don't want to have him feel bad for doing it, but I don't want his hands going through his poop. Any experience or advice?

I always give DS something as a distraction. He either rolls away or touches himself so I try to give him somethong hes not normally allowed to have like my phone or the nasal aspirator etc. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't so I try to move as fast as possible every time.

This. I keep a toy at the changing table to give to him too. He also has a fascination with the Aveeno lotion bottle, so I sometimes give that to him. Basicallly distract him with something you know has a good chance of holding his attention. Then go quickly and pay attention to his hands. I clean the area around his penis first, so that if he does try to grab it, at least it's clean.

EVERYTIME he diaper is off. I keep his hands away (which is sometimes difficult) while I clean him up, then I let him discover things down there while I get out the new diaper. Hes also plays with himself in the tub. Oh, boys!

Oh yeah. He does this too. That doesn't bug me. I know he is trying to figure things out. I just don't like the handful of poop. I guess it's just one of those things.
