So, I know we're not doctors and I'll meet with my dr in May but just thought I'd throw this out there. Both my last 2 miscarriages were the same...never would have known anything was wrong if I hadn't had u/s. Only gestational and yolk sacs were ever seen, with strong symptoms, no bleeding, etc. My understanding is that this is not a blighted ovum bc of the yolk sac. What "kind" of mc is it then? Any ideas??

my currently-reading shelf:
Typically a blighted ovum is considered when there is the presence of a yolk sac but it's void of a fetal pole or embryo. Other than that, it is just considered a miscarriage.
Regardless, your pregnancy had arrested development and was not viable which is true of most all miscarriages.
My RE never used the term "blighted ovum."
He said there are chemical pregnancies where nothing can ever be seen on ultrasound and usually the miscarriage is very early like the week you'd start your cycle.
Then there are CLINICAL pregnancies which means that something can be seen on ultrasound even if nothing ever develops in the sac.
