How many wks b4 due date did you have bbyshwr?

Hi ladies,

First let me say that I am super grateful that I will be having two baby showers..one from my mom and the other from my MIL..I found out this wknd that the baby showers are programmed for June 2nd and 3rd. I'm due June 26th...do these dates sound like they are too close for comfort? I feel like they are but it could just be me freaking out because I haven't purchased anything because I figured I'd get a lot of things at the babyshowers and I might not have enough time...

I also heard a rumor that my MIL might try to move the date to June 9...now this date really does freak me out..its like 2 wks before my due date..

Thoughts? Thanks ladies!

That would be too close for my comfort. Is there a reason why they landed on those dates? If you don't think the dates can be moved, I would go ahead and start buying your necessities and then set money aside for the other stuff and just make one big shopping trip.

Those dates would all be too close for comfort for me. At my shower I was in week 31. I feel like that has given us enough time to get everything else ready. Full term is at 37 weeks so I want to be ready by then.

too close for comfort for me. Mine will be when I am 34 weeks and not that I think I'll go before then but I am a planner and really would have liked to have things set/bought that we don't get before then because I am OCD and based on my registry stalking I have a lot to get. My shower is less than 2 weeks away and seriously nothing is bought -guess everyone is doing their own thing

At least you all have an idea of when your is....my mom and sister want to surprise me, but now I am getting nervous b/c I just got a call last week from the MIL asking if this was going to be a surprise b/c she still hasnt received an invitation....unless they are trying to throw me off, I hope they do it soon b/c I'm due June 20th and want to get stuff done soon!

I had mine at 37 weeks. It wasn't the most comfortable, but it was certainly doable. I don't think it was anymore uncomfortable than doing it at 30 weeks. My suggestions would be to have a fan blowing on you while you open presents, have a chair or small table in front of you to hold the presents while you open them and have plenty of people helping to hand you presents, take them away and throw out the wrapping paper. And don't be shy to take a break while opening gifts if you feel the need.

I just had my shower this weekend at 32 weeks. I was really happy that it was that early due to the fact that I really feel like this LO could be here the end of May. Now my SIL who is due 4 days after me is having hers on May 6th, but she helped pick the day and that is what worked for her. I think it depends on what all is needing to be purchased. Both my SIL & I have almost 3yr olds so we have our big items taken care of, we each are having the opposite sex this time around so between the showers & trading clothes we should be ok.

Mine is at 35 weeks. I am starting to stress, because I don't have anything, but honestly, I think that it will be great timing and keep me busy for the last few weeks.

Mine will be when I am 36 weeks 1 day lol. Nervous about it being so close, but not too worried. We have all the essentials already (crib, car seat, several packages of diapers, and tons of clothes) so everything else could wait until after the baby is born if I went early or something.

I'll be 36 weeks at my shower. I was worried at first it was too close but now I don't think it matters. It was the only date my sister could come into town and I'm happy to have it later with her there.

Mine is when I am 35 weeks.

In your situation...that would be too late for me, but that's just my opinion.

That'd be too close for me.

My first one is April 29, and 2nd one is May 6th. I REALLY didn't want any showers past mid-May, so that's the dates my hostesses went with.

Is there ANY way they could move them up a week or two? I'd def. see if MIL can keep it the same.

I'm having mine on May 12th, I'll be 35 weeks. I'm okay with that.

Once I have the shower, then DH and I will take a look at what essentially we'll need and purchase it.

I am having mine at 33 and 36 weeks. I thought they were kind of late - especially the 36 week one. But I figured that since people were offering to throw me a shower I couldn't really complain. Since I am such a planner I decided that I need to buy the bare minimum - just in case someone decides to show up early. We are moving into our new house next week. We already have all our nursery furniture but once we move in I think I'm going to buy at least enough stuff that I can bring him home without freaking out that he doesn't have sheets, or diapers, etc.

I'm not having a shower this time but for my son I was 35 weeks... and I ended up having him the following day. Not the best timing.

I had my shower for DD at the end of February and I was due March 25th. It was way too close for my comfort, but it did all work out in the end. I was just completely exhausted after. It was driving me crazy not having some of the larger items and clothes to prep for the baby, DH not letting me buy anything else until after the shower, and wanting to nest. My shower was a surprise, so I had no idea when it was.

My shower is also really close to my due date--due June 24th and the shower is on June 2nd. I think it's a little close, but it's the date that worked for everyone, so I'm excited about it. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive away, but someone else is going to be doing the driving

We are getting the crib and car seat, and then waiting to see what we get at the shower. I'm trying not to stress about it, since it is out of my hands. Good luck with everything!

My shower was this weekend and I was 33 weeks. I wouldn't have wanted it much later. I got so much stuff that I am still overwhelmed. All the organizing and figuring out what you need to return, exchange and still purchase is time consuming. Plus everything gets throw every where and if you are in nesting mode early you will get frustrated that everything is a mess again. But if it is then or never just suck it up...well worth it.

I was 30 and 32 weeks at my showers. it worked out perfect for me some people dont like it so early but I am a planner etc. and wanted everything done and ready for baby a little earlier so I can not worry about anything that last couple weeks but keeping the house clean and keep getting my butt to the gym on the treadmill and elliptical a few times a week

I'll be a little over 35 wks. Even at 37 wks, I wouldn't stress too much. Just make sure you have a carseat, diapers/wipes, a few outfits, a couple swaddle blankets, and a safe place for LO to sleep, once you get home. All the rest can wait until after baby is already here.
