I'm not sure how I feel about it actually except that I don't like that they specifically reference "attachment parenting" in the article. Doing that paints a "style" in a negative light. I never considered my way of parenting to have a name associated with it. I don't particularly like labeling parenting ways as "styles". Actually I really dislike labeling anything. I wish to nurture my children in a loving and positive way. Period. Why does it even have to have a name? I guess this might be a topic for another post, though.

And why do people feel so strongly about telling others how to raise their children? Who do people feel so strongly that they need to impose their way on others? Argh.
The risk of SIDS does not increase with co-sleeping/bedsharing. I could see her making a case for the increase of the risk of suffocation (not that I agree with that), but not SIDS. SIDS and suffocation are two different things. SIDS is still unexplainable. Suffocation is explainable.
I agree with Anna. More fear mongering and no science/evidence behind it.
SIDS =/= suffocation.

I just have to say that I love that my DH actually pointed out the article to me and commented on how absurd it was.
I just wish they would talk about the difference between safe bedsharing and unsafe bedsharing. Ugh.
That would make so much sense and actually be useful.

What a stereotypically stupid article. I love the Indian commenter who points out how many other cultures see this as weird:
"Culturally, it is considered offensive to have the infant sleep in a different room or even a different bed at night."

This reminds me of the question someone asked me in Havana once. "Is it true that Americans make their babies sleep in rooms all by themselves?"
Honestly, the worst part of that whole thing to me was in the comments section -- the commenter from India who explained how they make a safe bedsharing bed for the baby in the family bed, and then this nasty American replies:
That's just so offensive to me and dismissive of other cultural practices.
