We have tried every sleeping arrangement out there. And bedsharing and nursing still work for my toddler.
Some nights she barely nurses and almost STTN. Other nights she is on the boob a lot (teething). She also 'knows' when I get up so I can't even pee without her crying or get up before her. Even with DH right there.
We have tried for last 3 months to get her to sleep in her own bed on the floor in her room. She started not even wanting to go down in there and pointed to our bed.
Our bed is back on the platform and I can either put it back on the floor or keep trying to get her to sleep in her room.
Pros: she's getting the idea that she has her own room, frees DH and I to be down stairs at night, allows us some private time in our own bed
Cons: Fighting sleep, lots of wake ups and it raises my anxiety not knowing when she will wake up b/c I know it is inevitable.
WWYD?
Re: If your LO went to sleep in their own bed when they were ready c'mon in
Give it a few more months, then try the transition again. 3 months seems like an awful long time to fight it.
We made a huge deal about my son sleeping in his big boy bed-we got him sheets he got to pick out and a new toy to snuggle with. We offered lots of praise. Initially I had to lie in there to get him to sleep. For a few days I would sit on the edge of the bed and pat his back for comfort until finally he would lie down and go down on his own without me staying there.
When we tried this at 16 months he was not receptive at all. Waiting 4 months made a huge difference.
