Success after IF

IF protocol change when trying for baby #2?

So for trying for #2, did your RE want to switch up what you did last time or did you dive right in with the same exact protocol?

Re: IF protocol change when trying for baby #2?

  • Our RE didn't decide on the IVF protocol we'll be using to TTC #2 until after DH and I completed all of our testing again (SA, HSG, SHG, CD 3 bw/us, infectious disease b/w, and genetic testing..and possibly some other things that I'm forgetting at the moment). I also had to have a hysteroscopy to remove a lot of polyps.

I was newly diagnosed with DOR and we will be following a Microdose Lupron Flare protocol w/ICSI this time around. I did ask if she would be doing a 3dt (rather than trying to wait to do a 5dt) since we conceived our son using a 3dt, but she informed me that each cycle is looked at independently of previous cycles. If we are lucky enough to have enough embryos of high enough quality to make it to a 5dt, we will shoot for that.

  • We dove right back in with the same IVF protocol that was successful for #1.  We were lucky to have success that first cycle trying for #2.  Good luck!
