1st Trimester
I can't tell family yet, so I'll talk about it here!
I just had my first doctor's appointment today, where they basically just did a urine test and confirmed my due date for Dec. 3rd. I scheduled another appointment for May 1st, and I'm hoping for an u/s, but she couldn't tell me whether there would be one. In any case, my mom is the biggest gossiper I know, and I don't want my entire family knowing until we are further along. Needless to say, my mom won't be finding out until we want everyone else to know as well. This next month is going to be so hard for me! How do people do it? Anyone have good stories to share about telling their families/friends?

Oh goodness, can I ever relate?! My MIL has a big mouth too...it never fails she tells me everytime my DH's brother's girlfriend's sister's cousin's mom is having a baby! Hahahaha! It spreads like wildfire! At Christmas my cousin in law hadn't told anyone yet, but you better believe word got around and my MIL told me before my cousin in law had the chance.
Therefore, we have not told her yet. We are not ready for my DH's entire hometown to know yet! It has been very difficult...I love her to death, just not ready to spill the beans yet! At Easter she told my DH he needed to stay home more because she wanted a grandbaby...my DH nearly died! I think we are going to tell them on her birthday next week.
I have been telling people here and there. It was my intent to wait until week 7/8...even to try to make it into my 2nd trimester but with the bed rest I had to tell some at work. I am a secretive person by nature so it hasnt been too hard...
My mom knows, my step-dad, my dad-dad, my aunt, the beau of course and a few at work. My beau has told everyone in California (where he is from). I am mid-size town with a small town feel and if I would have told my cousins... it would have gotten around with in 10 minutes and my FB/Twitter would have been blowing up! So even though I love them and they are like my sisters...they do not know. I might not tell them until I make a visit in June.

I know what you mean, We haven't told any family members yet because we want to wait until my first appt, which is May 25th, how I will wait that long I don't know. I told a close friend though, I need to talk to someone besides my husband about it or I will go nuts. I wish I could tell my Mom but she will tell the rest of the family for sure.
My edd is 12/3 and y next appointment is 5/1 too!
We told our parents, they were all really excited. This is my IL's first grandchild so my mil was speechless. We haven't told any siblings yet.
