So the other day on another board, I was reading about someone doing a 5 day embryo biopsy with 24 hour turnaround. They transfer any chromosomally normal embryos on Day 6 instead of freezing on day 5. So I emailed the embryologist at my clinic, and it turns out that they can do this if I want it.
I thought this option sounded awesome, but hadn't heard of it being discussed here. Maybe it's a newer option, but I was just curious if anyone else has been offered this? The last clinic I went to would freeze on day 5 and have you do a FET at a later date.
I've been back and forth on CGH, but am learning more towards it. We are typically left with 2-3 embryos after our fresh IVF cycles. I know I could just put them all in and see what happened, but after two miscarriages (BOTH of which required intervention- one with methotrexate and one D&C), i'm really not wanting to go through that again. If I can decrease the chances of it happening, I want to.
Anyone's clinics offer them this option?
Re: CGH ladies
My RE told me about this too but as my markers were already with the PGD team we stayed with it. He said it was a good testing method but thought that in my situation I was better off with the 5 day PGD testing and FET later.
GL in what you decide. Maybe google it and see if any other boards out there have spoken about this.
Multiple ectopics, 2 failed IVF's
IVF #1: Did not get to ET, embies all failed PGD (major chromosomal defects)
IVF #2: We have 2 chromosomally perfect embies as a result of PGD (Boy/Girl) 1 failed the thaw (Girl) Transferred 1, yet ended as a c/p
Thought it was the end of our TTC Journey 6/20/2012
SHOCK BFP 9/28/2012: IT'S A BOY! and everything is normal !!!!!!
Little A born 38w 2d on 05/23/13 and is a true miracle for this IF Vet!
Does the 24 hour turn around test the same amount of abnormalities? I think the quick turn around sounds pretty good.
Good Luck LaLe! I hope you make a great plan and get your take home baby(s) from it!!

Hey there!! I was lurking over here and saw your post! I was the OP about the day 5 a-CGH. It does in fact test all 24 chromosomes. The reason they can turn it around so quickly is because they test it in-house. So they can turn the results around quickly without transporting (or freezing) the embryos.
I'm glad this can be offered to you, I have yet to find a "downside" to doing this (they can also do a 3 day if needed.)
GL with your decision, I can share my experience in late May/june...that's when my ER/CGH/ET will hopefully happen. My clinic has been doing this since September, before that they were doing day 5 biopsy with FET later.

Yes! I'm so glad that I saw your initial post. And I was shocked that my clinic actually offered it. My clinic sends out the sample. They get results in 24 hours and transfer around 1 pm on day 6.
I'd love to hear how your cycle goes! I'll be looking for your updates! Good luck!
