I had my 2-week appt yesterday and my OB removed the steri strips that had not yet fallen off. The good news is that my incision is looking good and healing perfectly. The bad news is that I had no idea how much support the steri strips were providing. My incision area is more achy than it was in the day or two prior to my appt.
Any suggestions or is this pretty typical? Do I just need to dial my activity level back a notch or two for a while?
Re: I want my steri strips back!
i didnt have steri strips but i know what you mean- when im not wearing my yoga pants that are kind of tight in that area and go up higher than the incision i get that 'achiness' and soreness. i still have a little flabby skin down there and if im not wearing the pants it jiggles around (lol) some and makes the incision sore!
a binder sounds like a good idea, or stretchy pants that go up high made it a lot better to me. i also wear stretchy high-waisted panties right now and those kind of hold things together too. GL!
This, The nurse gave a binder right after the c/s and I love it.
I healed faster than my other friend who didn't use binder.
I found the binder really uncomfortable, but it works great for others. My OB suggested I put silicone bandages over the scar after the steri strips came off to give it a little extra support. I had a hard time finding what she was talking about, but I used something called blister cushion pads that I found at Target. The Band-Aid brand ones are oval shaped, and I preferred the Target brand ones that are rectangular. They are latex-free, sterile and stay on for weeks with showering and everything. You can always take them off if you don't like them!
ETA: I've also heard of C-panties recommended, but I didn't try them. I guess it's kind of a high waisted panty with a silicone strip in it for support. Good luck!
